My Idea for Fighting Gold Sellers
My Idea for Fighting Gold Sellers
Now, we are all aware of Joymax's incompetence, but this is an easy solution to the gold bots along with the auto bans we get every week. All you have to do is drastically increase the price and of the goods you buy in Triangular Trade.
Why does it work?
It works on the simple principle of inflation. Joymax has a problem with gold sellers that grind for gold. Right now, a massive amount of gold bots can be able to grind for surplus gold, but in this new system grinding will get you enough gold for pots and NPC weapons, not by deflation, but by inflation. Right now, gold bots can produce large amounts of gold by grinding for weapons, gold and alchemy items. Now, to get gold from grinding and selling items the bots would need more stallers, and farmers, but now with the weekly autoban, they will be removed. This would cause the gold farmers to go to the triangular trade or raise prices drastically, making buying gold worthless or get more employees and partake in triangular trade.
This would boost thieving by having more traders out. Next, the companies would need hunters, and with a lack of employees and characters, they would have to go through the party match or get invites. Finally, since there are more hunters in need of traders, they can ask their trader friends to come along for a trade.
What do you think?

makes sense but too many people afraid of dying, being owned, and busy leveling. To do anything a sad state for the game when people prefer those things than actually playing it, sorry for the neg response.

I see your point. But in reality, nothing will change.
If gold bots get banned then more get created and start hording low level areas, so either way gold is still being farmed. The only way anything will change is if Joymax start to ban IP's instead of just accounts.
/Whatever

"This would cause the gold farmers to go to the triangular trade or raise prices drastically, making buying gold worthless or get more employees and partake in triangular trade."
Define "drastically"...I just asked someone last week and they said 100 mil gold was $14. No idea on what server or what business that was. I have heard it used to go for $50, so if someone paid $50 for 100 mil, I'd think they'd pay even more...
Interesting idea, I'm still not sure what you mean by the weekly autoban. Who would get banned? The goldbots? JM hasn't done it yet...they ban 1000 bots and 2000 take their place. To me the only real solution is to have a guild/union level themselves decently and have people setting bot traps EVERY day, 24/7. It should cause a shortage and therefore gold will go up in price, and hopefully not even be available.
edit: Honestly, do not count on JM to enforce their rules, I don't think they are capable of such a massive ban.

If faith is a crutch, I'm not limping anymore.
Re: My Idea for Fighting Gold Sellers
Well if you have a server where most of the actual players are capped, then there really isnt that much left to do except dick around. This idea would shift the idea of buying gold for a sun to actually earning it.
To Pan... a successful trade gets a percentage. So since the price of the good would go up so would the amount earned.
Lobster... thats the idea. Gold would go up in price because demand would go up because people would be becoming filthy rich by the triangular trade system. (and the autoban is the weekly bot list incase you didnt know)

You cant stop people from doing something that is easy and without consequence.

Lets all think here. If you understand ANYTHING about economics you would realize why this would work. This is an EASY solution for Joymax and it is a perfect medium for the company that does not wish to get rid of bots (Revenue Source) but wants to make more money by people buying thier items (Silk Trans) for generating in-game gold.

Worst idea ever. Not everyone in the world has a static IP.

But the people who do have static IP's and have 200 banned accounts under their IP... well, don't they kinda deserve an IP ban?

Re: My Idea for Fighting Gold Sellers
The only plan that ever worked was when Joymax decided to ban 1k+ bots every week for a month a little while ago. That worked wonderfully because it caused more people buying gold than having enough gold to supply it.
When 20 people are buying 100 mil each and the company keeps losing their bots weekly they can only stack up on half of what was paid for. Low level gold bots don't make nearly as much money as higher level ones do. This caused most customers to stop buying from that company and move on to the next, and the same happening to the next company and so on and so forth.
Did you notice that most gold companies ran out of business within those few weeks and how the servers were constantly "Populated", and how there were off peak hours.
Well those hours are still around now but getting to be worse daily. A month ago the servers would go "Populated" around 6 P.M. U.S Eastern time. Now the same happens around 9 P.M. And in a month it will be 11 pm.
The worst part of this is that these recent bans are mostly lvl 1-20 gold bots that make absolutely no gold. If anything needs to be the higher lvl gold bots would need to be removed or stopped from collecting gold.

How would you know if their IP is static? Are you going to contact each ISP and ask?
Besides, there are walkarounds to that. Proxies are one of them. IP ban is NOT a solution. I wish people would hammer that into their heads already.
IP ban on a dynamic IP, means that another innocent player who might be assigned that IP will not be able to play for no reason.

Creative solution, but save yoursel finger-fatigue. This entire forum could think of thousands of fool-proof solutions but nothing will ever change as long as gaymax continues doing what its doing

Listen. I understand where you are coming from, and yes i do understand how the economy in silkroad works. However, you are just like one of the hundreds of topic starters that i have seen over the years of this forum, who make a topic with this great idea.
However the point i'm making is, it doesn't matter how long or how hard you try to get CHANGE within silkroad, 99.9% of the time, nothing will change, so stop trying to bullshit yourself into thinking YOU of all people can make a difference.

Without consequence? What do you think all these gold bots are for? Buying gold funds the gold selling companies. Without funding, there is no company. That's basic economics. Don't buy gold and there won't be gold bots. It's that simple. The greed of the players wanting billions in gold and all sosun sets is the reason there are bots to begin with.
