Supposing 2 players with exactly the same gear, lvl and same build fight. The winner will be the smartest/most skilled. So skill does matter here. It just depends of the lvl too. A high lvl will kill anyone 10 lvls under him easily.

i think it depends on gear, i was messing around on my friends lvl 70 glaiver hunting. he has no gear cause he was hacked a while ago so i put my gear on the glaiver from my lvl 43 archer, and bought him a npc glaive. i walk outside dnw and a lvl 42+ killed me. and i had like 12k hp i was stuned lol. but it happend.

not really much skill involved to be fair, i suppose some skill could be using different attacks for different fights could be called skill, but i agree with your friend.
anyway could be a good player with a level 90.

its usually a mixture of luck and skill but mainly skill the luck part is completely situational as for example u have a lvl 40 glavier pvp against idk a lvl 52 nuker you need luck to beat him with a crit or else ur done.Skills usually play in wen your going up against someone your lvl cuz when your going against a higher lvl if they are farmed just like you with good gear too your not winning well u can just not a high chance. Its all situational

Whats needed to play sro?
Hmm.

First of all, like $400 to log into your server.
After that, you will need some dollars more, just to get extra exp and sp cause you will be ks'ed by bots.

Then, you will need another sp ticket, because farming in sro takes toooo long.
Ohyah, and prepare to waste another 600$ just to make your weapon sosun.

I really don't know the prices x)

Barotix ... the game is lame and skillless ... It doesnt need any skill to be played ...
This ISNT Guild Wars ... Watch some Guild Wars video (or try HA/GvG) ... and you will see what
tactic means ...

Silkroad compared to Guild Wars is nothing in tactic ... literally nothing!

I was caught in the heat of the "discussion" and was to generous towards the GNGWC players, no blood lost.

@Nitro, Skills in SRO doesn't mean tactics or strategy. The skills in SRO aren't really skills, they're more like the base functions every human has. These functions being Memory and Knowledge. You can go more in depth with that by adding subcategories but you get what I mean. I have played games that required true skills with one's fingers. The point is, you can see the difference between a player that knows what they're doing and a player that doesn't. What separates these two? Some call it skill. Tbh, it doesn't matter. There are good players and there are bad players.

Yeah but the importmant thing in that is ... that you cant see big diffrence in skills ...
You cant see big diffrence in player , good one and bad one ... ofcourse there is diffrence ... its like ...

Example ... in CoD4 / CS you can get lucky and kill someone who is great player ,with your noob skills ... it will happen ...

But in UT2004 (Not that much in UT3 - UT3 is lame) there is no , but I mean no way , that noob can beat PRO ... my brother (Who was 104 on some list - in the world) ... in UT2004 ... He lost against someone (not sure what his ranking was, but he was better than my brother , named Tornz) 25-0 first time they played ...

So there is really really big diffrence beetween noob & pro .. We cant say that for Silkroad ...

Another example ... In Guild Wars there are huge amount of Guilds that play GvG (weekly / daily) ... I'm not sure who is the number one these days , but I remember Virtual Dragons leaded really long time (Including RenO , and some other guilds) ...

On other hand , in HA (Heroes Ascent - in Guild Wars) ... some guilds would won halls all the time ... why? Because they had skill ... Team play + reflexes + creativity ... Thats what its needed to become great player ...

Team Play
- with introducing European race , Avalon showed us that their team play is awesome , and I must admit , they showed that there is skill in it ... but it is nothing hard really ... The reason noone can beat Avalon is that other players cannot arrange anything ...
I bet that if I (or anyone else) start a group on Venus , train and outnumber Avalon (With Euros), we could take down Avalon without problem ... anyone could ...
The problem on Venus is that creation of character takes long time ... (In Guild Wars you can make PvP character - lv.20 Already) ... ---> Making harder for others to organize ...

Reflexes - Game lags ... I have noticed when I was playing Cleric ... that when I'm healing , I heal (example) nightbloom , I see that Fly is low on HP , I click on Fly and instantly use healing spell (watch out- I click on Fly , Fly is selected) , and the healing spell heals nightbloom (alot of Clerics should've noticed that) .... That means that you cant have propper reflexes in this game.

Creativity - There are way too simple skills in the game , and there are not alot of skills in the game ... --> less builds (Builds , what builds? You can take all the skills with you if you want ...) -1 Tactic point ...

Overall ... The game has tactic (Euros) ... but its unnoticable , and compared to other games , its nothing ...

Thats half true half BS, the person with the lucky Crit / 2 crits back to back will win, there's no skill in getting crits.

There are plenty of times i PvP friends equal to me and it's literally just a Pot-War, neither of us can kill each other, sometimes even with crits.

Because of the Auto pot system silkroad has implemented EVERY battle comes down to who can crit first or who can crit the most in succesion.

For Example (this happens to me all the time):
When PvPing rogues (in particular, but not limited to), my lvl 80 pacheon has 20K HP, a rogue my lvl with decent gear Pricks me for about 13K. Depending on whether i know he's coming or not i use a lvl 1 ice wall (fire tower for wizards) to absorb the first hit becuase they always go invis. If the rogue gets a lucky crit i'm dead in one hit, if he doesn't crit me i 5 arrow combo him and push him back so he can't get off his next chain attack. After that a Strong bow craft and a devil arrow will kill him no problem. I clearly have mroe skill than the rogue and actually have tactics other than, *invis, prick, run to safe zone*. But occasionally he'll still kill me because of a lucky critical.

Skill isn't everything in a battle, nor will it be until joymax changes the autopot system for chinese.

Actually theres a noticeable difference in player's abilities.

Team Play: Europe brought team play to the field, now its just a matter of tapping its full potential.
Reflexes: Refer to Europe, Reflexes are important in pt play. TBH, Europe really did bring skills to SRO. Chinese, not so much.
^Actually, those two go together.

Creativity: MMOs rip each other off, did you know our snowshield looks exactly like the WoW mana shield? OH, you're talking about builds. Well, there is a lack of build variety because most people are afraid to stray from the norm. Personally, I like the Idea of a 85% Physical Balance, Bicheon/Fire 90, light 70, Ice 50. Others might look at that build, call me an idiot, and proclaim pure int or pure str as the only ways to go. OUTSIDE THE BOX THINKING IS FROWNED UPON.

Your post makes me want to install GW on my computer (My brother has GW). Bah, back to my war.

i wouldn't go that far as to say REAL skills and teamplay. Europe is Joymax's sad excuse for a Party Based MMO. They didn't take anything thought into actually BALANCING the skills with the chinese builds, which is why Euro's are such overpowered. Joymax completly tilted the scale. They took the most BASIC principles and tried to establish a party system.

i.e Wizards are supposed to be strongest but weak defenes. key word WEAK DEFENSE, not NO defense. a Wizard is NOTHING without a cleric sub-class. But if you link a wizard with a Bless spell and it becomes a tanking nuker for the next 45 seconds which is completly ridiculous.

Clerics are well over powered. Bless spells pretty much make some in invulnerable for 45 seconds. They're massive spam of instant heal instead of Heal Over Time (like most MMO's) makes anyone almost invulnerable unless u can one hit them or have some serious DPS. (i can tank a lvl 90 full farmed glavier with a lvl 60 cleric constantly healing me lol, that should not be possible). And along with that they give clerics Offering, which is the stupidest idea since the Pet Rock.

a euro party is NOTHING, without a cleric which is not how it should work. Yes, they should be weaker and disadvantaged but it's far too much.

On the other hand, a euro party with a cleric is invincible which is not how it should be either.

Sure Euro's brought a differen't degree to the game, but since Joymax didn't Scale them very well, and after a year looks like they're never going to nerf some of there abilities has completely broken the game. I dont see how u can find a lvl 64 wizard one hitting almost anything lower than a lvl 70 acceptable. But whatever floats your boat.

Long Live Euro's

Euros are weak alone. I never really understood the whole overpowered mess. There are easy counters to most Euro builds. You also have to remember the final cap is 140/50 (most likely 140). So what we have now doesn't really represent true end-game PvP.
