[SUGGESTION] Another one
[SUGGESTION] Another one
Well my first suggestion in order to cut down the amount of time it takes to actually get into a server didn't go down as well seeing as you guys thought it was stupid - and I also learned it wouldn't work - so I decided to make another suggestion. You'll have to excuse my poor English =P
The main reason I'm making this is because I've spent the whole day trying to get on the Odin server and it has always had 5-6 players above the server limit, making it impossible to get on. I know I'm not the only one who has this problem, and I really don't feel like paying money for premium when it's the botters who should be suffering.
Objective:
:: To cut down the time it takes to get into the server
:: To cut down on the number of gold bots/bots
Suggestion:
:: Introduce a sort of "sub-admin" which has the ability to kick/ban bots from the server.
How it works:
Well on another game I used to play, not only did you have the main admins (GMs in this case), but you also had sub admins who had limited abilities. These "sub admins" so to speak, would be taken up by actual players. This might be a little difficult to understand but I'll do my best.
Real players would be trusted with certain powers on the servers which would allow them to kick/ban anyone they see who they know is botting. I think it would be best just to give them a kick feature, that way there's no "admin abuse" and mistakes are less likely to be made.
The current problem that most people talk about is Joymax's lack of money. Lack of money = lack of staff and thus, more botters get to ruin our servers. The irony here is that if there were more Gms, there would be less botters, meaning more money =) Even though people argue that Silkroad make most of their money from bots buying Premium, they are not thinking about how much they are going to make LONG TERM. People have to ask themselves the question: Why do people bot? The answer is simple.
People bot because they want to be as high a level as all the other legit players who worked their asses off, however, they want to do it with none of the effort. But what happens when all the legit players leave and you're left with nothing but bots? Do you really think bots are going to waste their money on premium for a game that has no legit players? Nobody is going to want to play silkroad if it only has bots, and Joymax will slowly lose members and support. In the long term, if you get rid of bots now, more people will come back and they have a higher chance of getting legit players to pay money. It's all logic to me.
One way to reward these 'sub-admins' is by giving them Premium or gifts such as Silk etc.
Moderating it would be a difficult task, because LOADS of people will be applying for these admin positions once they know the rewards that are involved. However, if we could find one player that could lead the rest of them, it would be their responsibility to deal with the other admins along with the Gms. The criteria for becoming one would be based on;
1) How long you have been playing silkroad
2) You're past behaviour on the servers (i.e. if you have been banned before, or if you have been kicked/warned.
3) If the GM sees you as an honest person
4) [You can input your own here, I'm just giving some suggestions]
End Result
So not only would this get rid of alot of bots on the servers, it would eventually free up alot more space so us legit players can enjoy the game. To be honest, I don't mind the bots and people reaching high levels without any of the work, it's the clogging of the servers I hate.
It would be worth trying out I feel, please discuss and give me some feedback. If you like this post enough that you think it should be implemented, please go to http://www.silkroadonline.net/sro_board ... 043#241043 and reply to my topic. Other than that, send your suggestions to Silkroad. They'll probably just get put through the shredder but eventually they'll have to come up with something!

Re: [SUGGESTION] Another one
This should probably be posted on the official forum. Also, good concept, will never happen.

Re: [SUGGESTION] Another one
Sounds awesome, you should email Joymax. One thing though is the players of this game are seriously corrupt, so finding honest "Sub-Admins" may be hard. Have you tried posting in the suggestions section on http://www.silkroadonline.net or try Pming Shan >.> on srf >.>

Re: [SUGGESTION] Another one
Joymax can do anything about the crowded servers, problem is these crowded server gives joymax a certain boost in monthly income.
people are buying premiums now instead of the old goldtickets, that is 50silk more each if i am not mistaken.
This has been suggested a lot of times but its a cry on deaf ears.

Re: [SUGGESTION] Another one
Yeh I know, moderating it would be difficult, but you have corrupt people in all walks of life and it used to work well on my other game. Once you have a basic system in place and a bunch of trust worthy sub-admins, the rest is easy.
I've not suggested it to Joymax yet because I wanted the people of this forum's feedback before I made a fool of myself.
I'm sure Joymax would rather there servers filled with legit players who are more likely to pay money than 3000 botters who don't even give joymax their time nevermind their money. Yes, servers would still be crowded, but the amount of players leaving and coming into the server would be REALLY quick. It's logic, botters play 24 hours a day, players play 3-4 hours a day, meaning more server vacancies.
Not even that, most of the people leaving SRO are leaving for the same reason - too many bots and getting into the server is impossible. All I'm trying to do is make up a system that benefits the players but also benefits Joymax financially.

Re: [SUGGESTION] Another one
i know the amount of money in the LONG term will be better for joymax if they banned bots, but the current problem is getting worse each day and it does seems like joymax want to get as much money as they can in short times (the suits for example)
the non silk buying player has close to zero chance to ever enjoy this game again even goldbots are buying premiums, or certain silk items if this continues the game will be filled with couple goldbuyers and tons of goldbots with premiums.

This is an amazing post, really good concept imo...
However JM would never listen to logical legit players, so obviously they would not listen to this idea... man what I would give if JM's rights to the game was sold to a responsible company...

Re: [SUGGESTION] Another one
I know what you mean borat, but obviously Joymax aren't thinking longterm. But people have to ask themselves the question... why do people bot? Answer: To get to lvl 80 without any effort to be able to compete with the people who spent their gaming ours getting to high levels. But what happens when all these players leave, and you're left with nothing but bots? Is the game exciting when EVERYONE is level 80? The 90 cap won't really fix anything...even botting can become boring. They need to think further down the line, and realise that if they don't do something now their game will become history.

Re: [SUGGESTION] Another one
1. it should only be a kick feature, random players shouldn't have the right to ban ( imagine the complaints if someone who wasn't botting got banned )
2. finding people who wont be corrupt is impossible. They would dc people who would ks them if they got pissed off enough..

Re: [SUGGESTION] Another one
i believe in one of the other sro version they have in their U menu an option to report things while ingame, even bots, no clue if it actually works or if they do anything with the reports they get.
i hope we get that with level restriction (knowing our community people would simply create new chars and spam it) punishment on abuse would also be a great idea.

*Sigh*
Re: [SUGGESTION] Another one
If I'm not mistaken joymax already tried a system like this a while ago (around earlyish 2006) with silk assistants. Not sure the exact reason why it was canceled but I think it had to do with some of the silk assistants being caught with botting.
It's a great idea in theory but it's a bit harder to execute in practice, especially on the selection process as well as making sure the silk assistants aren't abusing their powers or outright breaking the rules.

Re: [SUGGESTION] Another one
That's why I've highlighted the moderation as a major problem. But trust me, there are good natured players in silkroad who would be more than willing to take up this offer. Most of the people on this forum would fit the position perfectly.
One way of moderating admin abuse would be that everytime a player is kicked, the "sub-admin" has to display the reason why they are kicking the person, to prevent someone being kicked for ksing. Besides, bots are the main culprits for killstealing, so it wouldn't be all bad =)

Re: [SUGGESTION] Another one
I don't think the voice of one person would be enough to persuade them anyway. I would quite like to hear all about what the people on this forum have to say... they seem to be the only logical thinking people left on silkroad! Once I have enough feedback from you guys to convince me that it will work, I'll send it to Joymax.

Re: [SUGGESTION] Another one
It didn't allow me to make a poll on the forum and it came up with an error message saying I've typed too much... I guess I could shorten it down.
EDIT: Ahh this is hopeless, I can barely post anything without going over the word limit. It seems they don't want people making these long winded posts. It won't even let me reply to my own thread after making a post... I might just refer them to this thread.
EDIT AGAIN: Ok the post is here http://www.silkroadonline.net/sro_board ... 043#241043
I also added a poll to the top of this page, so please vote =)!
