you only need 1 phantom and 1 IE on tryn and you get around 85% crit chance, should have invested into more life steal/dmg/arpen or even defense

If you say Zyra is OP then you are just bad at the game... She is pretty easy to lane against if you learn what her skills do... That is the same for any champion actually.

i dno... its difficult to avoid the vines as well as avoiding that thorn pit thing...

so chances are she will hit you with one or the other as well as spawning 2 plants. laning is hard if she is constantly using these skills, the vines are too fast to dodge if you are close and as soon as she sees the way u run she can 100% hit with the vine pit thing.

she takes damage hard but when she one hits you at practically lvl 13 whilst denying you cs things escalate far too fast.
combo+ignite = kill anyone

Vlad is hardly an AP carry. Yeah he's pretty strong, but he's not supposed to burst down anyone.

I mean he's not literally an AP Carry.

Yes he's AP, and yes he's not a tanker/jungler/support, but you can't compare him to a Veigar or Ahri in terms of their ability to carry a game as an AP Champion.

His damage is sustained, if his team can't handle a team fight properly he won't do anything unless he's incredibly fed.

A Veigar and most of the typical AP Carries can burst down an enemy or aoe the entire team for a big chunk despite the performance of the team in teamfights.

Vlad also sucks at 1v1.

I am currently downloading the game; I've never played it before (or any game like this) but have been recommended it by a few people. I've read some tutorials and watched a video and, well, damn. Gone are the days where I could pick up any game and just figure it out as I go. I'll be sure to post my first match, I'm sure it will be a disaster ^__^

You should be fine. The game is really slow paced so you'll be able to read any movements the enemy makes and/or see their attacks coming.

Unless he has rilays and is kiting a melee champion, he can't 1v1 another carry either AD or AP who has the same amount of farm and experience.

He will blow his cooldowns then walk around until they come back and hope the other guy doesn't instantly kill him... By that time someone from the other team should have arrrived.

Anyone with a brain could figure out I wasn't saying "vlad can't 1v1" EVER, of course when he's ahead he can 1v1, but he's still better off slowly damaging the enemy then going in for the kill when he's at 30-50% hp.

Ok. Vlad can 1v1 most carries with equal farm and skill level. You are obviously doing something wrong or haven't seen a Vlad that isn't a first timer.

you talk about his cooldowns like theyre 10 seconds long...
get a blue buff... u have q and e every 2 seconds...
yes, kiting is a must, and kite them towards your team if possible, remember playing summoners rift is about teamfights and not 1v1's... it is a team game after all

Inonian boots are better on vlad in my opinion.. Void staff makes up for the lack of Sorc shoes

Haunting guise is also a very viable item.

Ionian Boots, Revolver and Haunting Guise is a very solid core for solo top vlad.

So I've played a few matches and it is going very, very poorly. I am only playing in bot games atm, I'm not even daring to play against other people yet. I've won one of my games but lost every other one. I've been using Ryze, following a build/tactics guide yet seem to do very poorly. I can burst people down very quickly, which is nice, but I'm still losing a lot of games I play or I'm having to leave them after 60+ minutes because I need to do other things (are games meant to go that long? It seems way too long if you ask me). Any advice for a total newb would be appreciated :D

60 minutes for a bot game? Seems a bit overkill. Just push the damn turrets. If you play normal games you will be flamed by smurfs, which are people with level 30 accounts who are making new accounts and don't understand the whole *new player* thing. Some people might help you out. And if you keep dieing play safe. Only thing I can think off, too sleepy..........

yeah league seems to have one of the worst/immature communities i've ever seen out of a video game, my advice is to pump up your mental game if need be.

So I've watched a few videos, read up on some more tips & tactics (it turns out I was doing a lot of things wrong, I mean ALOT) and decided to test my luck with a Co-op vs AI battle. Except for 2 stupid deaths early on which were my fault I thought I did really well and carried the team in the late game. Results below ^____^

5v5 against bots is a bit overkill... i admit i suck but usually i can win in a bot fight if its 3v5... dont need all 5 XD
