ANet just released some info on death and combat mechanics which can be found here

In a nutshell GW2 will have no dedicated healer class and all professions will hav some sort of support characteristics, some more than others, and tanking will be less about holding agrro and more about "controlling" enemies to protect your allies. Also, they talked about how when you reach 0 health you go into a "downed" state and hav 4 skills to try and either kill your enemy or try to escape and hav your allies revive you. If you kill the enemy in downed mode you will get back up and be able to continue fighting.

Finally, some info. I call next profession in about 2 weeks. Will probably Ranger because thats the most obvious shaded character.

Also rumours that the second Soldier Class called "Knight" by the fans would be actually called "Seraph".

PAX & GamesCon are giving out Demos to people that can attend. So you could consider it a Alpha phase. Then Q4 2010 will probably be Beta and like Mclagg said, release Q1 2011.

Obvious profession is obvious imo Paladin,Cleric,Battle Priest,whatever you call it ,its gonna be that

Probably not. Theres 8 Profession and they mentionned some brand new one. So somewhere some GW1 profession will be removed.

He woudn't be range(Spears are not in GW2). He'd probably use a Mace,Shield & War Horn.

Well paras were unique, but I felt warriors could have been given some ranged attacks, and had a very similar role. A class I would like to see is like a warrior/assassin combo. Dual wielding axes (barbarian), that would be pretty cool.
