Need help, computer addiction.

Here's the deal.

I started high school now. Not very much things are ok. First grades aren't good at all. I was told by my parents, if I shjt my grades any more, it could bring an end to my computer days. And I'm addicted to the computer. Even though they tell me that, I still study less and pay attention to the computer. That is kind of wrong, but can't control it..

Any suggestions? I would really appreciate them.

Do like i did - ask parents to set password for your Windows account.Or enter random password yourself, like "dasdad4asd4as56d4as56d4sa56d4sa56d4asd"

You have to explain what your addicted to. games? pr0n? internet?
the best way of course is to force your parents to take your comp away

i agree with yamato, ask your parents to set a password for your windows account. That way you can only play on the computer when you're parents allow you to (probably when ur homework is done :P )

ur not gonna like it, but if YOU want to get less addicted.. do it.

I don't have english classes, and English is not my mother language. I still think that my comments are pretty much understandible.
Addicted to internet, forums. I spend about 3-6 hours a day watching forums.

My honest way of dealing with such matters would be to mabey take more time to talk to your teachers. Study more and be more alert in class. I just started my sophmore year in High School this year and am having some of the same troubles that you are. I have a hard time undestanding math so is what I do I sit down with my teacher or someone who know's what they are doing and get them to help me understand it better.

Now for the addiction problem I would have to say that it is up to you as a person to stop that. Set your own personal goals and stay on here less and less everyday until you find that you have become un-addicticed...? If you find that this doesn't work then mabey you should have your parents put a password on your account so that only they can log you into your computer...

Those are my suggestions and I hope I was of some help to you. Best of luck! :)

exactly how many hours do you spend on the computer on a day out of 24 hours?

out of that time, how much time u spent looking at forum (which forum), handgrinding SRO, and surfing the net, watching highspeed pr0n, etc?

I thank you. The problem is, I do pay attention in school. But I don't study enough home. Parents did gave me a rule, like you can just use the computer after 20:00, but I break that rule, and they don't give a damn. Though they shouldn't.

On holidays 8-14, on normal days 3-6h. On the internet about 3-6 hours a day, as for pr0n, all on DvDs. :)

As for which forums, I visit 7 forums atm. (3 are guild forums, of another game)

I think your best option is to ask your parents to put a password only they know into your Windows' account, so they can control the time you use the computer. True, it's not nice and they may not let you use the computer as much as you want to, but that's the main point. If you can't control yourself, yet you know it's bad, let others control it for you, until you get used to it and you can control yourself :)

Parents can be a pain in the ass some times but they can help too.

have them set a password on it that you won't know. then have them limit you. like 2-3 or maybe 1-2 hours a day? thats what i did

Stop right there.

Just stop being an addicted idiot, and prioritize. Life > computer. You do not want to end up without a diploma, decent job, wife/girlfriend cause your being a computer geek.

That's what Dom meant with pulling your balls out of your pockets, stop being a little sorry douche.

Dont see the computer as a "right" but more of a privilege. Instead of comping home and going straight on the computer, do some school work or study first. Once you have done enough work for the night, reward yourself by going on the computer. Earn your free time by working hard, it makes it all the more worthwhile.

Understood.

It was like that at first, but after some time, I just pretend to study and get on the computer telling my father I finished (even I feel the guilt in myself)

Well simply dont do that anymore. If you dont have self commitment to something how are you meant to change?

That's a lie. If you recognize the problem and have the will to post it on a forum to talk about it you either want attention or someone to do what you know needs to be done for you. Be a man and walk away. There's no fix for character, and unless you change yourself you will always remain lazy and a lost cause. If you're a person of such weak self control, character, and will that you cannot get off a computer chair through choice, then you will fail as a person in society. Do yourself a favor: stop being a defeatist.
