SRF Mathematics Competition Abbreviated (SMC), coincidence? I think not.
Introduction This is the official post for the SMC, all discussion and rules will be updated here. This competition will be a cascading competition as long as we have interest. I will get into more detail after Sign Ups.
Sign Ups I have put all the members that asked for sign ups in the original thread here, if you want to change your status please post here. Tomorrow you will be sent a diagnosis test and rules and procedures will be released in this post. You MUST sign up to to receive the diagnosis test and to participate in the first round! If you don't sign up now, you will be placed later in the competition and as such lose time to help out your team.
Rules Format
Spoiler!
i. Basics Every time I get around to it (about 2 weeks) I will update this first post with a new test. Each question is worth 10 points. Everyday after the 4th, each question is worth 2 less points. Each round ends after 8 days.
ii. Teams 3 teams will be choose upon skill level and as balanced as I can make it. This will be determined by the diagnosis test I will send all participants. Score if kept on the scoreboard which will be updated frequently here, almost live in this thread. Teams will talk through PMs, you can group pm, save your members on a notepad and if you don't have enough room in inbox, save your messages on notepad and clear it. After a message, you can just reply, team work will be necessary if these for the more difficult problems since you will need to talk over theory. Team charters WILL be posted here in this first thread under a spoiler tag added later.
iii. Scoring Scores carry over round after round and more participants can join in at any time. As for prizes, dunno yet. Scoring is 10 pts per question with a 20% deduction every day after the second day. You have two tries but if the first answer is incorrect, you get only 50% of the score you would recieve on the second try on that particular day. After the second you are locked out of a particular question.
iv. Submission All answer submissions are to be pm'd to me and/or icecreaman by the team captain OR defered by the team captain. Since time is a factor and one day someone has sudden insight but the captain isn't on they can send me the answer, but the captain will have to pm me with a defer form listed below and the question will be counted as the time when the first pm reached me. I will send either a correct / incorrect reply. Remember, I will have a scoreboard here so you can keep track of your standings. DO NOT submit and hope for deferment, talk about with your team and reach a general consensus and unless it's going to cost you 2 points and most people think you're right, I will NOT stand for rogue PMs, this is a team competition.
Answer question PM Title: SMC Solution Team #: Question #: Solution: Work (if necessary): Captain's name (if necessary):
Defering PM PM Title: Question Defer Team #: Question #: Name of Participant Defering To:
My confirmation wil be: PM title: Team # Question # Correct or Incorrect Points Awarded:
v. Captains They will be choosen immediately after the diagnosis test is scored, the test will NOT automatically promote you to captain or vice versa, it's just we'd like balanced teams with the captains and they do have a large responsibility.

Yes, of course. The questions are open to the public too so if you want to do it along go ahead. Of course I ask you not to post them, but you can if you want, of course if you can solve them before the teams, it's the teams own fault. There will be a scoreboard up updated frequently so you can see how things are going. Unfortunately discussion will probably, if they're smart >.>, be done over pms.

A lot of people are intimidated by the diag. test, I thought it was pretty easy... anyways, we will start the first round ASAP and have captains by the end of the weekend as well as teams divided up.
Oh, and chat is still not working for you guys, /sorry.

Just a quick question,
Because we are all from different timezones etc etc, can we have a GMT time + or - for dates of submission.
Also caseyd4 seems like a horrible team name
Can we change to
1+1=3

The entire reason for 2 days and deferment policy is to avoid time zones, it will be 48 hours after the test has been posted.
I'm officially back and updating everything, including scoreboard, and team charters. Name changes are allowed if you're captain.
Edit: Doubled the time limit so compensate, might make this way too easy though... we'll see how it goes.

While your updating things please change
Question 6.(3/32) to (30/32)
Also Question 5 you never give us what the winning criteria are, and knowing Suicide Girl the winning number aint on the wheel.

It's an image so I'll add the corrections at the top.
Assume you pick one number for the win, at least unless icm pms and tells you differently.

Everyone look at the first post in this topic. #5 was revised to clarify the question asked and #6 was changed from "0.417417417..." to "2.3417417417417..."
#12. with Calc it's a lot easier and faster

Me of course, I got all the questions correct. SMC-count made all the questions way too easy in his diag test.

does it really matter? all the problems are easy as hell. i'll get all the questions correct again

I made them from algebra to pre-calc, there's not point in testing what you don't know / there isn't a reason to have you waste more than 10-20ish minutes doing it.
O, btw, the test will be aujusted every week depending on how teams are scoring. We actually want you working for 8 days >.> I got some good ones planned for next week.
