since there been a lot of math questions and topics and riddles lately, let's do something fun and have a math contest. All the participants will be split into teams in a way every team is balance and has about an equal chance of winning.

If you want to participate, then reply to this thread and also state the last few math classes u took. everyones encourage to join.

A judge (SM-Count) will then decide which team has the most correct answers will be declared winner.

Team leaders will be selected based on activeness and competence in math. If someone in the same team disputes the solution within the team, then the team captain will have the final discretion of which answer he/she thinks is correct for submission.

and cheating would be quite easy. go on the net, find out equations and solutions to similar problems and apply them to the question. Unless we are going off the "honesty" system.

I can be host. I can always write a diagnosis test of 10(ish) questions that tests each level of math starting from algebra 2 - pre-calc. I don't think calc is gonna be much fun since you can't brute calc so some will be left out.

Well I might wanna take part but im doing Math B + D - 4th grade VWO (the dutch system), so i dont have much experience...

Havent done much since I dropped out of Applied Physics in Uni, 5 years ago. Il have a bash tho.

i don't think you can go on the internet and google the question since it'll be special questions that aren't on google and the phrases will be changed around. people can go and google for reference, but it probably won't do much. either u know how to do it or u dont.

SM-Count and I are going to give about 10-15 problems (to be determined) and the questions will be split into about a third easy, medium, high medium, and ONE very hard questions

anyways, we need more people. ask your friends/guildmates or SRF mates to join to get this going.

participants can't submit HW questions.

SM-Count and I will make up own questions or use books to get the questions to be asked.

on the other hand, do u guys think each team should be able to submit one and only one math question to the question pool?

There will be no homework, only myself and icm will post the questions and I will try my best to make the original as well as varying in difficulty.

The only thing I can think of guarding against cheating is a time limit, that and original questions which I can think up easy and will be somewhat unique. There's no reward for winning yet so there's no incentive to cheat, that and no one would want to ruin a game of math would they?

I'm going over the rules now. I'll have a sticky for official registration coming soon, so look for that. Captains will be choosen based mostly on math skills and a bit arbitrarily. We're thinking about three teams. The official sticky will have rules, which is, once again, coming very soon. (like hours soon possibly)
