That is a toughie, the way I see it you have three options -
1. Leave it, endure the pain.
2. Tell him discretly and politely, not trying to hurt his feelings.
3. Be a dickhead and scream it, make everyone know, shout and point maybe a laugh and some induced vomitting,

You will encounter much worse than arm pit, trust me. A guy at my work, Andy, smells like rotting flesh.. if flesh was made of goats milked dipped in vinegar. I have to be a good 5 meters away from him or i simply cant handle it. Hell i would enjoy armpit in all honesty.

Where do you work ted?
Becuase if it's a consumer based work then doesn't he have to be clean?

Veteran member, awesome.
As a side note to make this post actually worth while, your right about the consumer based thing. At tafe we are learning the importance of self image in the IT world ( communications, gotta love it ). Business are a hell of a lot more shallow than i ounce thought.
And since school is a consumer based business maybe try telling your teacher about it (maturely of course) and he can have a word to the student about it.

Business is pretty shallow, especially commission based work, image can be everything, not you're actual competance.
Is it poissible to just sit away from him?

Same, a guy 2 seats next to me in college stinks like a sick gone off onion. It's bloody disgusting .. he seems to not notice as he happily runs around i na t-shirt flapping his arms and what not.
I'll leave it be, use it as leverage for when he thinks he's being funny.

best thing to do is tell him politely, after class.
people usualy don't know that they stink, cuz they are used to the smell or something. He would probably be happy if some1 told him he stinks

last week i told to a workmate that he stinked terribly.
i live by myself, and my aparment smells ultra fine!I'm very sensitive with my nose lol. And if some1 in my enviroment is disturbing my smelling sense, i will let him know such thing. I dont mind if then he feels offended about it.
However the guy in question came the next day with a very nice deodorant and he even had a tissue, and apologized and he told me that he never knew that was annoying someone at work with that smell.
I feel bad for his gf or bf.
