Yep, you can watch the LHC working for the first time, live.
(The particles will be be flowing in one direction as a test. The first particle collision will be October 21)
LHC First Beam - 10th September 2008 - 9am CEST (GMT+2)http://webcast.cern.ch/index.htmlIf this machine works ok it will let us know how matter behaved a few seconds after the big bang and will help scientists to understand how universe was created.
Also, some people think this machine can create dangerous particles such as black holes/strangelets/anti matter/magnetic monopoles capables to destroy Earth and our solar system in just minutes. Scientists affirm we are safe, and there is no reason to be worried.
So dont worry, enjoy this. You´ll be watching history in the making

hehe yeah I found out about the cam earlier and was going to watch it-
but
Can you believe this
I have college from 8.30 till 10.00 in the morning.
The testing is done right in that hour and a half -.-
I'll check out the actual experiment though if I can.
Just for the sake of knowing when it's all done and over and I can safely sleep again.

I dunno how we're suppose to see particles with the naked eye.. but if we are going to see something cool it'll be in October.

What exactly would you watch? People pressing buttons, pulling levers? You can't see the fields nor the projectories nor anything really interesting...

Well i'm glad and nothing screwed up. I live about 40 min away from the test area, so if something bad happened i would be one of the first to die. All though i've been "convinced" that nothing bad will happen anyhow.

Nothing that hasn't happened millions of times already. They just want to study it closer.
