First anime I've watched apart from westernized one (pokemon, yugioh) and was surely impressed. Pretty awesome series, not a great ending though.

Full Metal Alchemist is an all time favorite, much better than Death Note. Funny thing is that the anime and manga split off from each other (the anime is finished but the manga is still going) yet they are both completely awesome. Take the recommendation, do yourself a favor and go watch it once you're done!
