I actually remember something similar to that (if not this) actually happening at Sydney 2000.

This is true, I remember watching it =)
The best Olympic moment I have ever seen... No one from Equatorial Guinea had ever competed in a swimming event at an Olympics. He qualified for the games through a wildcard system to enable developing countries without actual athletes to compete.

yea but the thing is let those people laugh, i mean has anyone tired swimming an Olympic
sized pool...its F'ing hard man, i say well done to the guy seeing how he only learnt
to swim a few months before.
