Rofl, I don't hate Americans, I love them. I dislike arrogant / ignorant Americans.

I think well done to Phelps, He's doing amazing with all his gold. Smashing records too. Sad to think though, that in a few Olympics time, he probably wont be able to do so, and will end up retiring, like our Ian Thorpe.

Is Phelps a professional or amateur athlete? Here in Canada, our atheletes practice their sport after work, and yet they are competing with professional athletes (eg. Chinese) who basically do nothing except to excell in their sport.

Anyway, Phelps is crazy, breaking his own world records 7 times in a row.

He is going for 8 Gold and USA isnt in first sadly we are in second with 17 gold compared to Chinas 28, and the summer Olympics are once every four years thats so think of it as one topic a year ^.^ (excluding the winter ones of course)

EDIT: Phelps has 8 gold new record for gold Medals :D :D :D

Canada sucks so much holy crap. When they announced the Olympics 4 years ago, all the other countries started like training right away, but Canada? Hell we just trained 6 months or so before the Olympics. Its sad really.

All I've been hearing about Canada during this Olympia was stuff like

"Great performance by Canada"
"Canada almost had it"
blah blah blah

THEN!

Canada gets Silver in rowing, what do they say? "CONGRATS ON YOUR FIRST MEDAL CANADA!" embarrassing lol

At least Australia has more than 1 medal right?

I could tell from Canada's attitude at the beginning was going to draw down on them.

Canada: WE WILL AIM FOR RANK 16 AND OVER!
China: WE WILL AIM FOR THE TOP!

And look at those 2 now, Canada is sucking Zyklon B gas and China is pwning in Gold Medals count

We have only 29 medals.
G: 8
S: 10
B: 11

I guess though, once again, not bad for a country with only 21 million people. We were doing better in Athens though.

Depends on what site, but IOC judged it by (for example) Gold = 3 points, Silver = 2, Bronze = 1.

Therefore: 1 Gold 2 Silver 5 Bronze = 12 pts, but 0 Gold 5 Silver 3 Bronze = 13 pts.

You don't need gold to win, but it's worth more.

Just an example.

I go by whichever one has Canada ranked highest. For most of the time it didn't matter though, as it always ended up tying for last; in that case I went for whichever made the US ranked lower than China.

I wonder why russia isn't up at the top, russia usually ends up in the top 3 but they don't have too many medals this year.
