I heard from the news this morning that it brings bad luck. I mean the superstitious beliefs. But duh! it's just a number.

In Belgium there's some kid who turns 8 years old at o'clock on 8/8/8.

Okay in Secludia there was a prediction on 08/08/08, many people would go to a big event. During the event an eclipse will happen and when the eclipse is over, the event will have ceased and the all the children will disappear and rise again as a soulless corpse working for the Uchaka. The Uchaka is a deadly spirit that appears once every month on a full moon that watches people of Secludia but is only predicted to make its appearance today.
Have you watched children of the korn? the myth is kind of like that.
This might seem hard to believe if even unbelievable.

Our christian school celebrated a feast day for a saint today, was fun... games, food, etc..

The Chinese Pronunciation of the number 8 is very similar to that of gold/money.
This is one of the main reasons, as far as my understanding and immersion into Chinese culture as to why the Number 8 is so lucky.
And yes, those who believe in it will go well out to spend big money on the number 8.
There are many people getting married today (Two different weddings i attended today, others which i did not go to ) a factory opening. and just a lot of stuff pretty much.
