Hey ! yeah i know getting boring, its like a wallpaper threads now :p

Well since so many people decided to buy laptop, am too very interested to get one :0
always wanted one but couldnt buy...

anyways i want to set up the XP sp2-3, and most of them come with vista installed ..
i was in a computer shop , the seller told me that most laps require vista right now to run good, as the drivers no longer made for XP, for me it sounds like he is trying to make me pay more, but whatever...

I want to know if Gigabyte laptops are good , or should i just go for HP or DELL whish seems to be the leaders now?

Here is the comp ive choosen it summs on about 1k-1.3k US dollars...
Specs:
gigabyte W566n
160GB HD
2GB 667mhz DDR2
Core2Duo 1.86ghz t2390
nvidia 8400gs 256mb (64bit bus) >,<
well and much things included...
(for me its good enough, cause i do not want a super gaming machine or whatever, more like just want to have one :))
well to make the question simple

Worth getting gigabyte at all? if not what is the problem with them?

Isn't gigabyte a motherboard company?
As for the laptop it looks decent, I have a similar setup with 3 gigs of ram and 250gb hard drive, with the gfx card with 128mb dedicated (however I can share more, so the max is something stupid like 1280mb). I only played 900 for mine though. Take a look at this, its gone back up in price:

anyone else hate these trends where one guy opens a topic and suddenly a dozen ppl need the same thing and make new topics for it....i mean, couldn't they read the combined post of all the other topics to figure out whats good or not....

maybe im just insane here

personally i feel that you can't go wrong with a Duncan. Its just classic in design and function and always made of quality whether your doing it for fun or you want to do tricks.

i wish i could find sucha lap in here, design is just a win :(

Thats why im asking, my self never even heard about gigabyte laptops, was just wondering maybe something is wrong... as for the GFX card well basically sharing more memory into gfx wont really help i think.
there is another option to get x3100 intel build in card, which for me sounds like a total crap , i mean ive never even heard about intel gfx cards and after reading all the reviews about it i just cannot let my self buy it :P

Yes you are right, but if i could find an answer in the other topics i wouldnt start this one, i did read all of them its just that there is nothing about this company , and usually people suggest getting HP, which is here comming with vista preinstalled..

so still can i reinstall XPsp2 on the laptops and will they really lack the drivers later on?

The difference between the performance between a 128 and a 256 would be very little anyway. I was just trying to reiterate that fact.

BTW, Where do you live?

Yes the difference is not really big, at least for the mobile cards
most of them use only 64-128bit bus, so its just pointless to have more than 256mb memory, but in fact some games can actually take more memory if you are able to allocate it, so having this option is not completely useless ;)

I live in Israel btw

Well ive picked the comp i want, it will be from gigabyte , after reading about it in internet , seems like a very good notebook and a good reviews/responses about it.

W566N T8100 2.1ghz
2gb 800mhz DDR2
250gb HD
nvidia 8400gs 256mb 64bit (well it does play few games, more than enough i guess.)
15.4" TFT LCD 1280-800*
2,7kg weigh
+i can install good old windows XP on it, im not a fan of vista ;)
and some stuff that probably included in any other laps

+since i have 34$ on my paypal xD
i want to order one of those

Image

im desperate whether get the silver(first one on the left)
