Planning to get a laptop [Updated July 22]

<EDIT>
I've decided the laptop I was thinking of before was much too expensive, so i've set my eyes on this one:
http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetai ... &langid=ENI'm planning to get it Monday next week, what are your thoughts about it?
Oh and if the ATI gpu on that laptop was an Nvidia, which one would it be?
Edit x2-
This laptop comes with the terribly dreaded Vista, I asked the guy if I could change it to XP and he said that he wouldn't recommend it just because it already comes with Vista loaded and I would need to do a lot of work to change it to XP due to drivers, etc. etc.
Should i just stay with Vista? I'm currently using vista on my cousin's computer and im hating every moment of it, my pirates wont install properly

Very Hard To choose there bery both the same thing besdies for the screen size.
Also Says: Up to 4GB Dual Channel DDR2-667
That means it prolly wont come with 4GB
if i remember my PC World Job we had alot of customers asking quesitions about that.

if i were u i would move up to quad core duo will be obsolete in about 2-3 years maybe less.
but if u had to pick between the two id go with.

Yeah, I know Van. The ram it comes with is 2gigs and an extra 2 will only set me off $50~
Memory
2GB (2x1GB) DDR2-667 Memory + $ 0.00
4GB (2x2GB) DDR2-667 Memory + $ 45.00
Cpinny, LOL QUAD CORE ON A LAPTOP? I've never heard that lol
Yeah they're both pretty same hardware wise, but the Aviator has more outputs and features I think? The only thing thats keeping me from getting the Aviator without even considering the Aero is the little rectangular thing sticking out of the back o.O (What the hell is it?)..and the screen size

All I'm going to say:
-Don't get an Alienware
-HP is the most reliable

Right because most applications not even using a full core will necessitate the need for quad core.

Yeah because that quadcore obviously wont be obsolete in 2-3 years.
I'd rather get something that works now and won't in 2-3 years than something that will always be useles because by the time Quad Core is supported it will be terribly outdated.
I'd get the 17" one btw, just because it's 17".

I'm a hardware nub..But mine's working perfect. It's an Asus.
After looking at the specs. The Aviator is nice, and that thing at the back is probably the battery (although I find it ugly but meh).
17 inch is too big IMO.

Is there a site where I can input computer specs and a game and it would tell me what level of graphics I can run it on smoothly (Low, Med, Max)

you have to think ahead, at least for me i would want my computer to last a while and not have to buy a new one every 3-4 years or so.
