Because, the animal (believe it or not -.-) is able to feel pain, the birds are equipped with either metal spurs or knives, tied to the leg in the area where the cock´s natural spur has been partially removed.
So a simple fight between 2 male rivals turns into a masacre because of senseless people, its not natural.

They kill chicken for food, which is the chicken's main purpose in life I believe. But fighting two chickens for fun is not really a good thing to watch. And it's against the law concerning cruelty to animals.

The animals are eaten alright. Well that is here in my country idk about yours. After the picture taking, hey I killed this big wild boar, the hunter eats the meat.

It's the kind of death not the death itself. I'm not an animal lover, i just hate watching people killing living stuff for the sake of killing it (be it other animals, plants or humans). If the animal is killed quickly with the less pain possible and they use the meat and anything else they can, then it's death wasn't a waste.

Worse things happen in the world - but it doesn't mean we should look over everything else. One way (killing an animal for food) is for survival, and the animal feels little to no pain (instantly killed). The other is based on pure entertainment at the cost of the animal, and is of no gain to anyone. How about I put you against someone from the UFC, they are equipped with knives and you are naked - it's a fight to the death. It doesn't really matter though because people are being killed every day overseas and it's much more important to focus on that than some random guy and random fighter fighting to the death. I mean you're going to die some day regardless right? Put yourself in the animals position - just because we have the power to make them do such things doesn't mean we should. Yes killing is killing, but at what point does the end justify the mean?

It's pretty rare to die in an MMA fight nowadays unless it's underground. The referees are trained and they know when to stop a fight before brain damage occurs. And I'm pretty sure cocks are starved/tortured before they actually fight. 2 healthy cocks wouldn't fight each other.

you know when i was younger i used to have this kind of fish, forgot the name but males would attack each other istantly and why is that couse they are animals, that is their nature ....... i didnt injected him or torture him to fight, fact most of them had never seing another of its kind before so there wasnt any1 to *teach* him how to go kill the other .........again they are animals

Aggressive males fighting for territory is common in the animal kingdom, however, aggression in cock fights is induced by introducing steroids to the cocks and testing their endurance through the use of torture and starvation (as someone previously posted). Anthropocentrism is basically the idea that the only thing humans should worry about is other humans and judge other non-human beings based on the central concerns for humans. Sentience is "the ability to feel or perceive subjectively", from Wikipedia.

It isn't so much the action as the purpose for the action that is in question.
