Anybody watch MMA? If you watched it then you'd know what MMA is. I currently watch UFC. PRIDE closed down but I'm definitely looking forward to the knew Japan based organization, DREAM (same people who owned PRIDE). Sometimes Elite XC if nothing else is on.

I'll post some more when I wake up. xD

DISCUSS!

The EliteXC show on CBS was the biggest joke ever. They are obviously trying to build up Kimbo, but its not working too well. The fight shouldve been stopped when Thompson had Kimbo in side control and was nailing away. Then it is stopped on the feet when Thompson was defending..they really want Kimbo to win.

The last UFC event was great. All my fighters won :) The next one doesn't look too promising though with all the injuries and drop outs.

i agree, they are trying to make kimbo bigger than he actually is, i dont think he could compete with the tops guns at all.
I watch ufc and the ufc series

Agreed. They're putting up sucky fighters against Kimbo. I wanna see Kimbo actually fight someone along the lines of chuck liddell and that lot. From what I've seen, he hasn't proven himself yet.

Speaking of the last UFC, Wanderlei completely raped Jardine, although I did find his punches a tad lousy but the inside style wandy had was the perfect antidote for Kieth. That fight stole the show IMO.

Wanderlei wins by submision(murder). LOL

Anyone remember GSP vs. Serra? NO CHANCE. He threw like fckin 20 knees on him. I'm pretty damn sure he broke a few ribs. It would be awesome if he moved up to middleweight to fight Anderson Silva.

I dont think he is ready for anyone of Liddell's calibre. He needs to fight a top 20 opponent before stepping up to the top 10. James Thompson is hardly Top 30. Someone like Fedor would wreck Kimbo, after seeing his ground game.

Yeah, his ground n' pound is brutal. Perhaps someone like andrei arlovski since they are both strikers, but I think he'd win cause of his size and reach advantage.

I found Tito Ortiz vs Lyoto pretty gay though cause Lyoto was pullin off gay tactics like hit and run so they could take it to the scorecards. That knee to the face hurt pretty bad though.

Kimbo would have no chance against Andrei, Andrei is way to good on the ground (Sambo). Kimbo is just a poster boy, his recent fight with Thompson was a farce, looked like he tapped out in the first round, then clearly got dominated in the 2nd (Ref rules state, that if a fighter is not intelligently protecting himself that the bout should be stopped). I honestly thought the ref got paid/told to carry Kimbo to a win.

Love mma, love the topic :)

I agree with you, Kimbo looked like he tapped and the fight shouldve been stopped. Thompson slapped the ref after the fight cause he knew it was a bad call xD.

And Arlovski is a Top 10 heavyweight, he would outclass Kimbo everywhere imo. Get Kimbo to fight Cheick Kongo , Christian Wellisch, Eddie Sanchez or any of the other guys on the lower end of the UFC HW division.

Lyoto is a hard guy to hit. Tito needed to be more aggressive and get the double underhooks against the cage. Lyoto was the better fighter, with a better gameplan. You gotta look at the technique behind what he is doing. He doesn't want to get hit, so he won't stand in front of his opponent with his hands down. His strikes are unorthodox and effective, even though they might not be powerful. Also, his submission defense looks to be great seeing as Tito had that triangle in deep.

Agreed, all that cry baby shit from ortiz "He ran the whole time" pft, he knew that's how Lyoto fights, Ortiz has no excuse, I think the only reason he wanted to win was to piss Dana White off, and Dana White chose Lyoto cause he knew tito would get frustrated. Unfortunately for Lyoto, his fighting style is gonna keep him from a title shot unless Dana White has no other choice. Then again I am glad, Cause Rampage is my favorite fighter of all time lol, been following his career from cage rage to pride to ufc.

anyone watching jens vs urijah? pretty even match, but I'm surprised how much pulver's combinations have slowed down.

EDIT: Uh oh, he's got him on the ground :O

On the other had, I'd like to see Lyoto fight Chuck Liddell. Those unorthodox strikes are perfect against chuck, but then again chuck is good at stalking his opponent.

The fight that I really want to see now is Rich Franklin vs Dan Henderson. Silva right now is way ahead of the rest of the division and these 2 are imo the next two contenders. They need to fight it out to see who gets to face Silva again. If Henderson wins maybe he can fight Silva with a better game plan, he won round 1 last fight but made a mistake when trying to strike. If he can take Anderson down and pound him he could get the win.

Yeah didnt work out so well the first time. I think if they ever fight, they're gonna duke it out but Franklin has the upperhand due to striking ability and reach. Dan has to take this to the ground.

Did ya hear about when Anderson Silva challeneged Roy Jones Jr to a boxing match? I thought that was pretty crazy since boxing and mma are different stories. That means he needs to work on his conditioning since this will go more thn 3 rounds like it would in the octagon. He says that he's tired of boxers saying mma fighters aren't technical so Silva is out there to prove em wrong.

I think CB is gonna win it. He has the skill to do it, but I think he might come in overconfident and lose (similarly to Amir's first fight where he was getting owned then pulled out the KO win). If it isn't him who wins I think it will be Jesse or Tim, they both seem to be very experienced and technical fighters.

Yeah, he's got a frightening kick. He's like the chuck liddell of japanese mma but with his legs lol.

On the other hand, I think one of the best fights this year will be Forrest Griffin vs Rampage Jackson for the light heavyweight title. A lot of people are rooting for griffin to win. I think this may go to 5 rounds this july. Both are excellent strikers and very well rounded, but I think griffin is more technical. Rampage whooped ass in PRIDE and he only started to incorporate jiujitsu into his game when he was set to fight dan henderson. So this is another weapon into his arsenal.

Griffin can definitely take a punch to the face. He's been bloodied up many times and still came out victorious. However, Jackson is such an impossible guy to knock out. I mean look at Wanderlei vs Rampage. Took countless knees to the face to rock rampage and another set of countless knees to actually knock him out.

I don't know how well Griffin is going to do against Rampage. He did beat Shogun, but Shogun looked out of shape and lacked aggression. Maybe Shogun did use steroids in Pride and is off them now, but he might just not have trained hard. Either way, he was not the Shogun we have seen in the past. And the last striker he fought before Shogun was Jardine and he got knocked out.

Standing, I give it to Rampage. He has a better chin and better boxing imo.

In the clinch, I give it to Rampage. He has been beaten in it before and most likely trained a good defense for it, plus his wrestling will come to use here.

On the ground it is a toss up. I think as a whole the fight could go either way, but the advantage is on Rampage's court.

UFC 85..what were your thoughts?

I called Hughes losing by KO, he is past his prime now. Was a pretty boring fight though. The PPV as a while was kinda disappointing, one of the more boring cards I've seen.

Yeah I saw that KO coming. A new generation of fighters are coming up and Hughes is getting older. The only fight that caught my eye was Hughes vs Thiago. Right now, I'm really anticipating Griffing vs jackson on UFC 86.
