Narnia, Prince Caspian
Narnia, Prince Caspian
Last night I just watched the new Chronicles of Narnia move Prince Caspian.
IMO It was a lot better then the first Narnia *Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe*
Although a lot of the stuff they did in the movie makes you think that J.R.R Tolkien and C.S Lewis talked back and forth with eachother while they were both writing The Chronicles of Narnia and Lord of the Rings. Like when Aslan calls the trees out of the forest *like LOTR*. And when the river "guy" came and helped kill all the "bad" guys *like LOTR*.
I also saw some things which seemed like a copy of 300. All the "bad" guys in the army had these masks on their faces just like the Persian army in 300 had masks on their faces.
Also they have a seen where some Arrows get shot off and it looks just like *Although not as cool/impressive* 300 when theres a bunch of arrows comming down on the Spartans.
Regardless of all that it was a decent/good movie worth my 8 dollars I think.
So if you haven't seen it yet. Your should it's intersting

Re: Narnia, Prince Caspian
I disliked the 7 books, I disliked the 1st movie, which was about the 2nd book for those who care.
I probably dislike the 2nd movie as well.

I wasn't a huge fan of the 1st movie either. The second movie is better IMO
And the books....hmmm...
Theres The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, Magicians Nephew, Voyage of the dawn treader, The Silver Chair.....what are the other ones?

Forget the movies, it's all about the books.

Ah okay I forgot about The Horse and His Boy and The last Battle
So I'm guessing their going to do the movies in the order of publication instead of the chronological order

the huge and obvious Christian undertones kept me from really enjoying the most of the books but i read all of them and only really like The Horse and his Boy and Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Magicians Nephew was alright too. I won't watch Caspian in theaters only because its mostly action and not the strongest of the books by far...but i will download it later....

Re: Narnia, Prince Caspian
i saw the movie in theaters and i have to agree that it was a good movie.
only part i didn't really like was the part where the evil dwarf wanted caspian to bring back the ice queen. it was brought up randomly in the movie, no foreshadowing to it, and it was never brought up again later in the movie. it was like they just though that part in as a cock tease like she is going to make a reappearance but no... just that whole part was useless

mmhmm yes aslan is the great benevolent christian while the telmarines are the bloodthirsty barbarian muslims.
and the people who are making narnia movies are just copying LOTR and the high fantasy genre. They are simply trying to get the same results as peter jackson did with the lord of the rings. The only difference is that narnia is a watered down LOTR made for children. thats just lame, im staying with tolkien.

Spoiler!
I'll probably watch it with a friend (when she gets back, she's out of town).

Telmarines aren't muslims in the books, those are Calormen. Telmarines are european-like too if i'm not mistaken. They are just zoophobic humans hehe they hate talking animals specially.

Well the Dwarfs used to server the White Witch and there was a comment in the movie about that.
So it sort of does make sense why the one dwarf would want to bring her back.

Oh yeah i forgot about it, the dwarf says that their race had privileges when the Witch was in the throne and that was his reason to suggest her revival (again i'm just talking about the book hehe ).

Re: Narnia, Prince Caspian
Guess who'se here!!
It's Me!
There were rumors I wouldn't come, but here I am!=)
Nao...
I've always wanted to see the Chronicles of Narnia...
Don't ask me why, cuz damn Jetix always fucks it up with those damn movie shots, they also killed Harry Pothead for me..
And **** holland with dubbing damn good movies (Disney things, Herbie, Harry Pothead, Speed Racer, Narnia, HSM, Madagascar (noooooooes, not Madagascar!! yes, they did))
Damn holland...
So whenever I get the chance, I'll watch Narnia without the damn dubs or subs and just sit back, smoke, eat, drink, and enjoy..

You don't think LOTR had any Christian undertones...? C.S. Lewis and Tolkien were very close friends, although Lewis was Anglican and Tolkien was Catholic.

Re: Narnia, Prince Caspian
I only saw the LOTR movies tbh. I tried reading the books but they were way to boring for me. While watching the movies i didn't really see many christian references. In the Narnia books theres no way you can't see them...i mean the Lion/Jesus who was the soon of the Emperor from across the Sea who came to save narnia and ended up being sacrificed where after he rose again from the dead.....come on
LOTR had nothing like that

True enough, C.S. Lewis was much more out in the open about it, but there are indeed undertones in LOTR, just much harder to see or appreciate.
