cause in america the backbone and most cords are the old school copper shit.
notice how in uk and stuff they aren't talkin about it, that's because they're all fiber.

Essentially when they're saying 19 bil invested.. i hope they're adding Fiber

Fiber is good because.. it runs at the speed of light.. which means!!! almost instantaneous and constant transfer of data

well there is a reason why the translantic are fiber optic. But most cities now in the US are fiber optic. Im about to get it myself.

well there is a reason why the translantic are fiber optic. But most cities now in the US are fiber optic. Im about to get it myself.

yeah in big cities a new houses and techs are getting rolled out to do more Fiber to the Curb installs.
Thing with these.. is you get fiber to your house... but then to wire your house.. or wire to your router/computer.. it's done with copper cable XD
So if we get to the point where supafast intanet becomes teh cheep then we're farked.. but, that won't happen for a while.

kinda akward converting the cables are going to be... cause it's a BIG Farking deal. so i wonder how they'll do it without extended downtimes.

edit: i guess they could just lay it all out.. then plan one Nationwide plug-in of all the cords and hope nothing is farked.

This was obviously going to happen, i hope they just update to optic fiber, the world would be a better place

Actually the UK is behind most countries in terms of internet speed. We use fibre optics on the main "internet highways" but we use copper wiring between an exchange and the homes. UK boasts 8Mbps. 90% of South Korea is hooked up to a broadband speed of 43Mbps and France has 44Mbps.... kinda puts the UK to shame =)

FACK, i want 44mps
america = DSL and Cable base rates are like 1.5 - 2.5 mps
that's like 30$ a month
