vista is retarded compared to xp when it comes to installing stuff
try rebooting your pc and then run the game
if not....check to make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date

your first problem is that your using vista.
find a file called "system32", delete it and the problems should stop.

vista has loads of redundant programms in the backround and the copyright issues don't allow many games to function.
Crysis only worked on XP for me too while it had only 4 frames per second on vista

there's a bunch of addons that vista runs regularly that eat up your cpu and slow down your comp, turn those off and it should be fine if you have 2gigs of ram
and don't ask how to turn those off, there are multiple guides on the internet on how to.

The problem is that you're using VISTA.
Vista is so bad, it makes me want to go MAC.

fraps can actually lag a machine, most games you can do it through the console.

Xfire has also a fps counter.
in the ingame xfire window, go to options, and there is something like show fps counter
