Tolerance?

Ravaging through our world today is the concept of tolerance: acceptance towards others. Acceptance towards others means plenty of things, but it also brings plenty of harm, in my opinion.
One of the fundamental rights of man is the right to think freely, and express his opinions freely. As a matter of fact, myself, as a citizen, am not allowed to speak up my beliefs, as they are offensive to certain minorities. How, then, can I enforce my right to speak up for my thoughts?
I do not go as far as saying some minorities should be effectively banned from the society, but isn't the tolerance everyone in the world supports right now excessive? Aren't we simply allowing too much, and in the end, isn't tolerance itself turning (indirectly) against some of us?
Discuss.

In America you can say w/e you want without the government infringing on your right of freedom of speech.
Tolerance is defined as accepting people, but it doesn't mean you have to like them. For example, I tolerate stupid people, but that doesn't mean I like them. Also tolerance can only go so far, everything has a limit. I'm a minority and tbh I think PC and AA is bull. All it does is increase racial tensions between ethnicities.

Tensions of racial and ethnical nature are the most insignificant of my concerns. What I aim at are sexual minorities. That's where the tolerance problem really comes into discussion. I, who cannot tolerate certain sexual minorities, due to religious reasons, should be tolerated myself. That, however, does not happen in the vast majority of cases.

lol i saw where he was going with this from the beginning. You don't have to like us. You have to tolerate us. We've been here just as long as you. We've contributed more to societies current ideas of Beauty, Love, Romance, Freedom, Art, and Literature than perhaps any other group. Shakespeare, Da Vinci, Alexander the Great...all gay. We shouldn't have to face persecution because of what we are anymore than someone should be picked on for being Jewish, or Black, or Albino, or a Little Person. The tolerance can be seen as accepting minorities for their differences but the tolerance movement is about simply not discriminating against people for what they are. If you want to judge someone, which you have no place to anyway, but if you must, base it on who they are. If you feel persecuted against its because society is trying to slowly and in some area quickly undo the damage that was done by judging ppl based on what they are because its been done for thousands of years and no good has ever come of it. Some of its just BS but if thats what it takes then i'll accept it, people have accepted far worse BS movements b4. The world is moving on and your stuck in the past.

<Stormrider> Just in case the FBI ever needs anything on me
<Elzie_Ann> I'm sure they can just get it from someone who DOES log chats.
*** FBI has joined #gamecubecafe
<FBI> We saw it anyway.

Tolerance means treating someone as a human being. You don't have to like who they are or what they choose to do with themselves, but simply respect their right to exist as a person. You can hate them and hope they burn in hell, but that doesn't give you carte blanche to harm them.

Essentially not tolerating somebody would be the same as bashing them or physically kicking their ass because of who they are.
So if you don't do that then you're already tolerating them.

Moreover, can one be tolerated for being unable to tolerate himself?
