Historical Mangyangs: Other SRO Lore tidbits?

I was just cruising about and typed in a query for "Occidental vs. Oriental" while thinking about a Hindi view that opposing theories are aspects of one eternal truth and came across the history of an island in the Philippines and Mangyans. [EDIT] Spellink mistake: Mangyans vs. Mangyangs

Quote Wikipedia: Occidental Mindora
The political history of Occidental Mindoro necessarily begins with the commercial history of Mindoro Island. Mindoro Island was originally known to the ancients as Ma-i. It's existence was mentioned in the old Chinese chronicles in 775 A.D.and more elaborately in 1225. It was a major anchorage in the Southeast Asia trade route during the pre-Philippines period. Chinese, Arab and Indian merchants traded with the natives.

The natives of Mindoro were called Manguianes by the Spaniards. But the natives refer to themselves by their ethnic or clan identification. There were seven such ethnic or clan distinctions, which are differentiated by language and areas where each can be found.

The Mangyans, as they are now anthropologically known, do not have a warrior society. They are a peaceful, shy but friendly people. They are rarely known to be hostile, and have had no significant record of violent conflict with other people in the entire history of the province. They grow root crops in forest clearings (slah and burn farms), and hunted wild animals in the forest for their meat needs.

There are no authentic documents in existence explaining the original stock of the Mangyan people, but later theoreticians postulate that they migrated from Indonesia before 775 A.D They hopped from island to island, until finally settling down permanently in Mindoro. It appeared that clan settlements existed in the North as well as in the southern ends of the island. By 779, the southwest coast of the island was already a known trading center, and its fine natural harbor frequented by Arab, Indian and Chinese maritime traders who plied the route. But there was no attempt of subjugation, just trading.

Was wondering if others had run into tibits of lesser known SRO lore (especially historic)?
Before you answer "use the search" - I tried and although I did find lots of references to the Hollywood movie, '300' I didn't find hits that satisfied.

Mangyang is actually a bastardized transliteration of Wangliang (妄凉).

All I know of Wangliang is a liquid Chinese medicine (ren-shen-feng-wangliang) which consists of royal jelly and ginseng. Is it a place? Jingbian?

I liked the Mangyan [edit: spelling mistake] quote, "They are rarely known to be hostile, and have had no significant record of violent conflict with other people in the entire history of the province. They grow root crops in forest clearings (slash and burn farms), and hunted wild animals in the forest for their meat needs," and thought about kids making fun by making dolls maybe.

nice find...but to emphasize the Mangyans (emphasis on the spelling) are a cultural minority here in the Philippines and steps are being undertaken to preserve their heritage...

far from the straw monsters we find in Jangan...^^

this is a site where we can learn better about the Mangyan Tribe:

Mangyan Heritage Center

they do accept donations...

Thank you kindly. Do we know of them circa Silkroad times maybe?
I've clicked my way to Yale and Anthropology but can't establish any direct correlation (Yale Peabody Museum)

Regarding Kanlurang Mindoro Political history:
"It was a major anchorage in the Southeast Asia trade route during the pre-Philippines period. Chinese, Arab and Indian merchants traded with the natives."

I certainly did not intend to denigrate or treat as lacking in value or importance, but am interested in tidbits of SRO and SilkRoad lore as might be seen ingame.

It holds no particular meaning, it's just like any other name. cSRO actually uses 稻草精, I assume because 妄凉 makes no sense.
