16 secs 8) did that when I was 10....

10.6 secs with a wall start for me...nowadays.

If you want to get decent Make sure you breathe every three secs. This will give you the proper hip rotation to move you faster through the water. Make sure you kick and your strokes are even. Don't take a huge breath but take a small quick one with the pocket of air that forms in the water to the right of your shoulder after you take a breath. Timing is everything.

Nice to see you back xyzzy

One other thing that may help you is to bring your hand straight down once its in the water, don't waster energy going out or it, just pull straight down.

No when you're pulling under water....Although I wouldn't reccomend that to others, but seeing as you are learning? to swim do that...

So reach your had as far to the front as possible and then pull it down next to you

well you want to extend so you can get a pull out of it
but while your hand is in the water just pull straight down.

also try to keep your elbows pointed at the cieleing during your stroke

hows your other strokes?

freestyle (though very rarely) may not be your fastest stroke
but i remember when i started swimming....I hit my head on the wall during backstroke, but now its my strongest stroke

keep practicing, go to a lot of meets, take some private lessons, but only if your serious

What a load of bullshit lol.

Where did you learn that BREATHING makes you swim faster? 10.6 seconds breathing every 3rd stroke... lmfao you absolute bullshitter :) not to mention push start... Over 50m the olympic swimmers take less than 5 breaths.

If you go that fast push start then you should be up their medalling at nationals ATLEAST for your age... 10.6 push, meaning you can do exactly the same on the way back, meaning you swim 22-23seconds for 50m short course. The recent Australian Olympic trials where the swimmers were wearing the latest suits etc the times were as follows:

=== Finals ===

1 SULLIVAN, EAMON............ 22 WEST COAST..... 21.28*
2 CALLUS, ASHLEY............. 29 REDLA.......... 22.02A
3 NEWTON, JONATHO............ 27 SYDU........... 22.15A
4 TARGETT, MATTHE............ 22 MEV............ 22.37B
5 ABOOD, MATTHEW............. 21 KNGC........... 22.45B
6 RICHARDSON, KYL............ 20 COMM........... 22.69B
6 PROSSER, CAMERO............ 23 MEV............ 22.69B
8 NEUWERT, STEVE............. 23 WESTERN SPRINT. 22.71B

Now, granted that is long course compared to short course.... But when you did your supposed 10.6 you would've been wearing a normal costume, it would have been during training and you wouldn't have been tapoured.
Oh, and to put out there how fast that 21.28 really is, it was a world record that dropped about 5 times within the previous month of competition. It use to be high 21's or something.

Really, unless you can show some site that would prove you can do a time like that (EG. list of your countries national times with your name on it lol) then i call bullshit on your attempt at acting good on teh interw3bz.

mm... Swimming just takes time, the more you train the better you get really. Theres no secret formula, just hours and hours every week in the pool.

@Stace, bear in mind in the US pools AFAIK are generally 25 yards in length not 25m, which is 22.86m. But still 10.6, sounds a bit too good considering you said you didn't do too well in your swimming competition.
