Technology questions

Post by Rainigul »

I'm not exactly a tech head, but I'd like to know some things.

Is Windows XP still sold? I don't want vista, it's gay with too must security, lol ^ ^. I mean, security is nice, but when you have trouble doing things on your computer without even being on the internet, that's not cool.

Is vista even worth it? I want to get a new XP, but if vista really is better, I might get it. But as I've said before, all those bugs in it are alittle... not good for me.

Second, I need to know about phones, what makes it a good deal? I've only ever had one cell phone, gonna get a new one. I have always been one to think that a cell phone's a cell phone, and that's all I need. Though my last one had a camera built in, because I didn't have a camera and I thought it was cool, because if there's ever a picture perfect moment, I could capture it.

Anyways, I was thinking about getting a full keyboard phone, because I hate text talking, but I can type pretty good, so I'll just type with my thumbs :). What else are some good features?
Right now I want:
Phone
Camera
Keyboard
Minor/Major internet ability (In case I can't get to a computer, lol. I've heard it's actually pretty cheap to have internet abilities on your phone, confirmation?)

What else are some good things? An iphone would be cool, lol, but nah, I don't need one'a those.

Anyways, thanks :)

if you plan on gaming with your computer for the future, get vista. vista is dx10 and xp is only dx9. also you need a dx10 gfxcard btw. so my vote is for vista.

for cell phones... no clue buddy. sorry

vista takes atleast 2gigs of ram to run by default, thats what i was taught while in tech training. thing about vista is there's a bunch of addons that can be disabled that speed it up and lower ram/cpu usage, which is where some people think the 'bugs' are. if you have a new computer i'd get vista, if you have an old one i'd stick with XP, and when you buy a new computer in the future that'll take vista.

get vista later, when they finish smoothing out the wrinkles and fix all the bugs. New programs are bound to be filled with problems when they are first introduced, so it is a good idea to wait a little bit before getting it so you don't have to download every single patch they release

Get Vista. Most people that complain about Vista either have an old system they tried to upgrade, or are using it on a laptop. If you get a new desktop you should get vista. At worse, you can always downgrade for free.

My girlfriend wants that, lol. I was going to get it actually, but I didn't want to have the same one as her, but she still hasn't gotten it yet.

Sounds like I should get a vista, I will :) thanks.

Screw vista, only good that comes from it is DX10.

What makes a phone good is it's plan, make sure you get a good plan (Not sure if they have this in the states or whereever you live, but dont get Telus, they will fuck you in the ass hard.)

Well Depends on what you want Vista for

Vista Good:
New gui
more Secure
better software in general
good with office software
vista Bad:
not meant to play games yet
more frequent game crashs
sidebar glitch (depends if updated or not)
more of a resorce hog so games may go slower

You are fail.

Vista is fine if you buy it for a new computer. Most people who say it crashes/bugs/freezes/etc. are people that haven't even tried it or tried a pirate version on their shitty computers when it first came out.

I've used it and played most of the mainstream games, never had problems with it - never.

Actually now that DX 10 can run on XP, When playing DX 10 GAMES u would lag less due to less resources running. lol

It's a nice phone.

Only a few complaints.

When switching to full keyboard, the screen has a 1-2 second delay to flip, which you get used to.
and the body of the phone is made of plastic.

Other than those two it's a beast of a phone.

I love it still.

I recommend it.

That's only assuming you don't have enough resources for Vista. Read what I wrote earlier, about people trying to upgrade their old systems.

XP DX10? Yes.

Not all of us have horrid computers. If you buy a new computer, chances are you will have the system resources to run Vista. Just because some people pirate it and can't run it on their horrid computers doesn't mean it won't work properly on a new system.

I trust dom, I'll get vista. I'm not upgrading, I'm gonna get a new computer.

 dom

My point was that why would you use vista for DX10 (which was how that discussion started) when you could also do DX10 with XP when XP uses less ram? Just because somebody has a pwnage computer doesnt mean that Vista still doesnt use a lot of ram, where im going with this is that wouldnt it be better to have ram free?

ok, I have Vista Ultimate, a Quad-Core 8GB Ram SLI(2) 8800 Ultras, and it's full of bugs ok, it does all of those, but like I said, -_-, XP is still the best ATM, until Vista is fixed or until Windows 7 comes out next year or 2010

I read it on engadget about windows 7

its like what happend to windows mellinium lmfao, it was still a DOS-based OS, and like windows 98, they scrapped that real fast, and modded NT4 and made it better and then came out with windows 2000 like half-year later
