Herpes question

What are all the different ways to get herpes? Someone I know thinks they have it (no, not me, really). I said I didn't think so because their boyfriend doesn't have herpes, and she doesn't cheat on him, so I dunno where this is coming from.
She says she thinks you can get it from a coldsore though...

technically coldsores are herpes (herpes simplex I)
genital herpes on the other hand is a whole different story...

I know a girl out in California who has it, I'll ask her. But, there are different types. Cold sores are versions of herpes, but not the kind your thinking of. Does she have them on her vag? then, that's a different story.

There are different strains of the virus. A strain, and B strain.
Oral is the A strain, where as I believe B is the genital strain.

lol no need to be so negative. no one wants herpes but be thoughtful of those who have it, its a serious matter for them. they dont need to be ridiculed.

She's going to go to the doctor if it persists... I said it's probably just shaving rash, or it's infected hair follicles, but she seems pretty convinced. She doesn't want her parents to know though.

I just need to know if you can like... give it to yourself with a coldsore or something? She said it could be that she had a coldsore, gave it to him, he did oral, and she gave it to him? He doesn't have it though... Or so he thinks at least. But I don't think he does (I didn't look _no homo_). I still think it's infected hair follicles 'cause she's begun to shave more than she used to. And she says it itches, and I heard that shaving off all your pubes makes it itchy, so I said that. But she's still wondering about the stuff that looks like herpes, I still have my infected hair follicle idea, but I dunno. I just asked her if they looked like split open sores, but she didn't respond.
Anyways, nobody so far has really helped that much. That webmd thing helped though.
