Well I just got the game and I'm trying to get good at it with my friend. Last few days we've been doing like only modded maps, and dota is fun as hell <3
Problem is i suck.
The game starts and people are like "omg dk is noob gg learn ot play warcraft LOL"
I could probably find this on a forum somewhere but i'd rather have the personal response, does anyone have a good buy order, strategic or anything useful for any hero on dota?
I can't bear to be in last place last anymore, hurts my gamer pride

uhhm...play a solo match against a computer on hard and turn off the fog of war mist with a cheat so you can observe his playstyle. that's what i did to learn how to defeat the computer in starcraft (and since the games are identical it should work here too.).

i just found the old cd my friend game me its so sold and scratch he had it since 8th grade just found the key online ;p
so ya installing now when hopefully it wont say something like couldnt complete error check disc since its badly scratch

I've neevr played wc3 original game, lol only custom game.

if you're trying to play dota, just play again and again, you can visit the official website for general build and tips.

Aside from getting basic unit knowledge that's the worst way to learn how to play the game because computers have a very linear play style. The beat way to learn how to play the original game is simply to play as many games as you can and also to read up on strategy and watch pros play.

yea go play some dota, find the games that say noobs only so u have an excuse if you do suck at it. if you got a mic come in my vent and me and my friends will teach you the ropes

luna is not really noob, i just find her over used a lot, if you play and sdem 100% chance that someone will get her and use her.

the key to getting good at dota is just playing it alot, most ppl won't allow noobs in a game and might get angry cuz dota is only for "pros". I would say try to find some other people to play with and get to know all the chars and item combo's, then you can go play with those who know more about it and you can get better . There is alot more fun stuff in wc3 than just dota though, the real game is alot of fun but takes pretty long to get descent at and ages to become really good at. But then again there are alot of other custom maps for wc3 that are very fun like rabbit vs sheep, TD's and many others. I have about 300mb of custom maps of wc on my pc so I can tell you there is more than enough to choose from

i agree with you ^ there is alot more then just dota on wc3, people make new game types everyday. theres something for everyone on there.

legendy heroes, hero line war, avatar arena and shitload of other game I like :O

Dota, fun game. Hard to get good at, you need a lot of practice, every hero has a weak side and strong side. I'd say you should play a ranged hero until you get good.

I used to play WC3.

Naruto Wars is the besssst.

Don't play it. That's my advice. Personally, no matter how popular WC was/is, its a terrible game. Blizzard has made far better games than WC, and there are many, many other better RTS games not made by Blizzard.

most people on here aren't playing the RTS part of it, dota is just controlling one hero and nothing else (depending on the hero)

Dota is all about items. So.........
But the build maps are all good. Just make sure you have hero as quickly as possible.
Footmen frenzy and X Hero Seige are GREAT.

ya man if you wanna learn how to play the game find other people your lvl coz it's easier to learn the game if you have the same lvl of abilities. And please don't join the "pros" when your not that good yet. You don't wanna cry when they yell at you "NOOB STOP PLAYING THE GAME!". Anyway I got my friends with me when we started playing the game. It was 10 of us, 9 newbies and 1 pro. That very one person thought as everything and we had fun tho we know we're not that good yet. And after a 2 months (i think) of playing by ourselves we tried playing with the "pros", and guess what happened. We beat down those "pros". haha nice game..

Anyway I stopped playing that game. After that last game we haven't played another game of dota anymore. We played SRO and it ruined everything.. lol curse you sro. But then I'm the only one left playing SRO now, we lived a separate lives. Hmmm just remembered I haven't seen those guys in ages..

If you wanna have fun in dota play with your friends. Don't play with the AIs please their no fun. I can take down 5 insane AIs in a game of 5 vs 1.

And ya BTW dota is not everything in W3 there are lots of other maps and have you ever tried playing the campaign? It's awesome, well that is if you understand the story.

lol, me bad? I just got sick of people warcraft... "DotA" as if it's a stand alone game.

For me, they should have stop adding heroes on 6.27... They focused on adding new heroes instead of balancing the current ones.

I don't know why I hate the map "DotA"... probably because of my experiences in the PvPGN.Battle-net Server I used to play at... where people ONLY plays "DotA".. which got me really really pissed off.

Yah I just started doing the campaigns and I gotta say, Blizzard really takes care of there game, the movies look amazing. I'm trying to learn the proper routes of skills and things to buy, starting to get the hang of it. This game is so old school, reminds me of AoE <3.
I'm pretty pro at every game I play, and when I get a new one, I hate degrading myself to putting "Noobs only" on my games

Played my first game that i have played in about half a year-a year a few days ago.

Forgot my whole build order, didn't have a barracks for like 5 mins
