Need suggestions for a new camera

Since my extremely "intelligent" cousin forgot to close the doors while the dogs were playing in the backyard, our bulldog ended up going back inside the house (while everyone was upstairs) and completely trashed my sony digital camera. I thought it would still be nice to have it around (with a "rough" look) but unfortunately, it doesn't work anymore. So now I need to get a new one 
I need one that can take both pictures (duh!) and videos. Preferably something that doesn't look like a lunch box but has good picture quality. Price range around or below $500. Having special effects such as artificial fish-eye lens is a big plus! I think I'll leave the entire light-leak thing to the trusty Holga.
So...any suggestions?
