I got an 80 GB Zune today and I am having a problem. I turned it on after taking it out of the box and it got stuck on the Zune logo screen. I came home and installed the software and checked the support site. This is what it says.

SYMPTOMS
When your Zune device starts, a Zune logo appears on a black screen, and the device stops responding. A progress bar may also appear at the bottom of the screen. But the progress bar does not move.
THINGS TO TRY
Try one or more of the following steps:
1. Restart the Zune device. To do this, set the Hold switch to the unlocked position, and then press and hold the Back button Back button as you press on the top of the Zune Pad. When the Zune device begins to restart, you can release the buttons.
2. Let the battery in the Zune device drain completely. After the device turns off, connect the device to a power source by using a Zune Sync Cable.
3. Restore the Zune device software. For more information about how to restore a Zune device, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
927001 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927001/) How to restore your Zune device software
4. Update the Zune device. Once the Zune device is running again, connect the Zune device to the computer that has the current Zune software installed. Then, update the device to the current device software version. I've tried letting it die and plugging it back in but it just returns to the logo screen. Any ideas?

If their faqs don't help I'd log into a zune/mp3 specific forum and see if your problem hasn't been dealt with there.

If that was meant to be funny you fail.
If that was meant to be advice you fail.
I'm sure he considered the other players.

If he meant for me to go mainstream, he fails.
If Nuklear was meant to agree, he fails.
Nuklear never fails.

Anyway, even after charging it , looking at forums, and pounding my head into a pillow wall it still doesnt work. Im going back to return it for a new one tomorrow. (If Best Buy has one..., I think I took the last one -.-). Really hoping I wont be disappointed again. Wont buy an iPod either way though.

If it's one of the 2nd generation zunes then I wouldn't worry.
