I have been having horrible feeling in my throat last few days, upper throat/back. I have doctor appointment tomorrow and i'm pretty sure i have something wrong with tonsils, is there anything i can do to make this go away until tomorrow, i don't think i'll be able to sleep with this, it feels like im being choked and painful

eat ice cream?

i've had that before. does it hurt when u try to swallow, even dry swallow? hurts when u eat?

i never suspected tonsils, i just left it as it is, it was over within a week.

Had them removed ^^

But yeah, cold liquids are good. As Hue said .. Ice Cream temporarily solves it.

Strep throat?

I got sick a while back and my throat hurt so damn bad. Every time I swallowed food it would kill.

same here I just kept drinking some lemon tea thing tis was nice =]

Take a glass of hot water with salt in it, and gargle a few times. After that, drink some hot tea with lemon. Doing those things should help you a great deal.

Still got mine, however I'm planning on removing them in a few years, along with my appendix. I don't want to deal with future problems.

Does everyone get tonsils removed? Or just some, such as wisdom teeth?

Some, actually few. I still have my tonsils and wisdom teef.

It must've sucked living way back in the middle ages, dealing with stuff like that but having no modern techniques or surgery to get rid of them.

oh, and if you get your tonsils taken out, make sure they don't give you a blood transfusion infected with aids.

I have yet to get my tonsils removed, hope its not painful.

I live in Canada so its free, just got back from doctor. He said they are inflammed and if the medication he gave me doesn't work they have to be taken out

same dam this happend to me about 4 years ago i ate bread and it fixed it and to the OP goodluck

QFT i do that anytime i feel a sore throat coming on and it takes care of it right away. Easiest cure in the book....

For a while my throat was hurting me. Not really too bad, but just a very unusual throbbing on my left side. It was like that for quite some time, and I stood the night at my girlfriend's place and the next morning my throat was killing me. I thought maybe she had some sort of cold from the night before or maybe because her window was opened, but it was hurting badly. Well i think that next week I was barely able to swallow, even if it was just saliva. It soon got somewhat better, and I happen to look in the mirror and the back of my throat. Now usually i don't see my tonsils even when I brush my teeth and then brush my tongue because when i brush my tongue the back back part is usually elevated up, which blocks the tonsils. So I looked at them and noticed the left one had a white spot on it. At first i thought maybe cancer because I would smoke (i've quit since then) and finding out it wasn't because of that, but it was tonsil stones. I found out you can take them out yourself, which i did by using a tooth pick. BY THE WAY for those who will by chance get tonsil stones one day, do no use a tooth pick. For one you may drop it down your throat, and 2, because on a couple of occasions while taking out the stones I accidentally punctured the tonsil and it bled a lot. It stopped after a while, but for the most part I'm not sure it's too good to have happen a lot.
