The eighties were amazing. Idiots are trying to "relive" them now, but it's dumb. You can't recreate something so awesome.
Movies:
Goonies
Lucas
Top Gun
Iron Eagle
Cloak and Dagger
Real Genius
Weird Science
Platoon
Indiana Jones series
Terminator
Rain Man
Back to the Future
Caddyshack
Better Off Dead
The Right Stuff
Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back
I'm sure I'm missing some.
Oh, and gotta love the commodore 64!!!

Nothing wrong with the 80's but the 70's had so much better music...

I don't think one is better or worse. I LOVE some good 80s music. Not the hair metal bands so much, although, for nostalgia purposes and giggles, who can't help but sing along to "shout at the devil" ? But, some bands I think were really good. Depeche Mode was and still is amazing imho.

Rush FTW

R.E.M.
Aha
Bob Seger
Flock of Seagulls
38 Special
Heart
Alan Parsons (one of my favorites)
Asia (forgettable rock)
B-52's (where I got my nick from)
Billy Idol
Alice Cooper
Poison
Cyndi Lauper
Eurythmics
Fine Young Cannibals
Eagles (although they cross decades quite well)
GnR
Kim Carnes
Men At Work
mike 'n the mechanics (not even close to Genesis)
Mr. Mister (broken wings, anyone?)
OMD
Rockwell (someone's watching me!)
Steve Winwood
the TUBES (completion backwards!)
Human League
Wang Chung
XTC
Yes (again, crossing decades, and their early stuff was better, IMHO)
ZZ Top
Many more...ok, maybe there were more good bands in the 80's...

Omg are you kidding me. I was just thinking about this shit the other day. There were so many good movies and cartoons in the 80s. I don’t much care for the music. But I miss being a kid and watching he man and thundercats and the jetsons.

I loved that movie. There's still one thing that I'll never forget and that's that girl had hairy arms. I don't know why I remember that I just do. xD

Yeah, but U2 formed in the 70's, as technically so did the Police.
Phil Collins did well, but Genesis was formed in the late 60's. Throw Peter Gabriel in there too, he did great stuff solo in the 70's before really breaking out in the 80's.
90% of the hair bands in the 80's had one or two hits, while stuff I listened to in the 70's - well, I listened and appreciated the entire album. Nowadays I can't find much good stuff except for Matchbox 20, maybe Maroon 5, and that's just not great.
70's:
Grand Funk Railroad
The Who (ok, technically the 60's)
Guess Who
3 Dog Night
ELO
Sugarloaf
Paul Revere
BJ Thomas
Grass Roots
Poco
Joe Walsh
10cc
Clapton
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Boston
Doobie Brothers
Frampton
Jethro Tull
Deep Purple
Led Zeppelin
Kansas
Pink Floyd (my all-time favorite, ties for second with Rush)
Steve Miller Band
Steely Dan
Styx
Stones (of course)
I guess each decade has its place...I like both, slight preference for the 70's.

you have a valid point...there are some great acts in this list! and you are 100% correct about the music of today...it is all crap. some of it is regurgitated and the rest is new crap. music has lost its soul.

music has lost its soul.
Each decade seems like it had something to rely on for a soul- 60's had Vietnam and drugs, sex, etc...70's had partially that, then the gas crisis. 80's had...err...well, people hitting 40 from the 60's...the 90's, not sure, maybe school shootings, societal disarray, AIDS, etc.
What do the 2000's have? All the same crud from previous decades...well, plus a slight recession too.
