I'm helping my friend buy a laptop, but im not sure the difference between the intel and amd cpu's. Intel look slower but more expensive :? Example:

Intel: http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/cat_s ... xedcode=WW
AMD: http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/cat_s ... xedcode=WW

Which processor would be faster, or are they roughly the same...

If you are ever worried about having a CPU overheat get an Intel. They have an automatic shutoff for the cpu if they get too hot.(If the fan fails) AMD does not have that, they will just cook and die. Plus AMD likes to play on the mind of the dumb consumer. When they name their chips like for example "AMD 64 3000+". They are claiming the CPU will run like it is 3 Ghz, when really it is a 2.4 Ghz.

Besides, AMDs draw more power and produce more heat.
