You can't really tell until a account of yours gets hacked or something along those lines, or you could find one during a virus scan.

Sometimes they slow up your pc, it depends. I suggest you remove Norton. Except that its useless, it uses a huge amount of system resources. Avast is a good one but i'd prefer AVG instead of it. Kasperky is very good if you want to spend some money.

if you mean an sro keylogger then i think fortinet might be the best one. i remember some site that checks you files with about 25 firewalls all at the same time. anyone just to try it out i made it scan my sro file and only fortinet found a keylogger on it. i'm sure if it's true though since i never touched that keylogger even afte rknowing it was there. i never got hacked or anything.

go into task manager and look at every proccess and check it online to make sure they are all legitamte because alot of the keyloggers may copy a windows process like crss.exe(i think this is the legit one) and csrss.exe which is a keylogger.

You see a gnome sitting next to your keyboard jotting notes.

E.g. they might even name it crss.exe like the windows program but you have to check where it is found. If it's on C\Program Files you're doomed.

Lol avg/other virus scanners. no
Use a smart firewall i.e. K9, something that asks you if you want to let a program connect to the internet, if it seems fishy and/or you dont use the program and its not svchost dont let it connect simple as that. And dont let any "anonymous" freeware programs autoupdate.
Also get rid of spyware..

Eh, not always true. If you don't know what a program is, Google it first. I've accidentally blocked Windows functions with my firewall, which have almost royally screwed over my system, and had to go in and manually edit the block values, which can be a pain in the ass.

Well... if you have Ardamax keylogger (the most common one , thats used for infecting files) you can just press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + H ... you can check like that ...

Thought that goes without saying

For most people, yeah.

But sometimes when you see it warning you of changes to a .DLL you've never even heard of, and says it's a suspicious system change... which backfires after you block it... ya... XD
