Sony Vegas help please....

I just got a copy of Sony Vegas 8 and I have absolutly no idea what the hell i'm doing. Is there anyone on this forum that can write a guide with some pics embeded to show me how to edit tracks and place text and segway into other clips I would be greatly appreciative. I tried to read the damn manual, but it is retarded the way it is worded, or maybe I am lol. Anyway, I really want to get on the video editing bandwagon and it would help me out alot if someone came to my rescue. Thank you in advance for those that give helpful info towards my goal.

I am trying to edit together FRAPS clips from various games (SRO included) and posting them stage6, so I need to keep the high resolution and clarity. I am currently running 2 22" monitors at 1680x1050 and would like to keep the resolution as close to that as possible. I already have Dr DivX and it compresses great, so now all I need is the editing done.

Also, maybe Vegas is a little too advanced for me as a beginner, so if anyone knows a good program (NOT Adobe Premiere CS3) please feel free to let me know about that too. Thanks.

Nope I cant get myself to pay $600 for anything non computer realted besides hardware for it lol. I'd rather build another computer for that kinda money lol. And @Dystopia thx for the link.
