How the hell does a one way ticket cost way more than a round trip ticket (going to the same place)
:?

Pretty sure you can set the dates for return on a roudtrip. Planning a trip to Australia now and i got to choose mine.

Some days are cheaper than other for airlines to fly (more people on the flight, weekend-work, ...) so with a round trip they kinda fix the date on a cheap day for you to come back, also they know when you are coming back so they are sure they sold that place for that day (sure income). With a one way ticket they don't know when you are coming back or if you even choose their airlaine, so they charge you more.

Makes sense, that way you buy the round trip one and stay with there airlines for 2 flights instead of the 1 way one where your only guaranteed to be with then for one.

sense has been made!!

If you're booking a ticket, try and get an open-ended ticket. I went to New Zealand to backpack and had no idea when I was leaving. It's cheaper than getting a one way and you can come back anytime you want to. Depending on the airline mine was good for a year and all I had to do was a call a few days in advance to reserve my seat. Obviously the further ahead you call the more likely you are to get on.

hm.

i got a nice story about that.

couple of years, i was travelling to china. i was going to take the plane from
amsterdam, but i found a cheaper flight that would fly from germany (dusseldorf
i think). funny thing is, with the flight from germany, i would fly from there
to amsterdam, then take the plane from amsterdam to china. yes, that same plane
as i would go on before i found the german one. seems the german taxes on flights
are a lot lower than dutch taxes. basically, i paid less money for flying more
miles since it would first fly from germany to amsterdam lol.

not sure why whole roundtrips would be cheaper tho.

its because you are guaranteeing the second ticket purchase.

its like when you rent a hotel, if you rent a room for the weekend its likely to cost les per night than just renting saturday.

its like buying in bulk sorta, just not so much.

I'm just guessing that the flight's cost is inversely proportional to frequency (demand). A direct flight from A to B might not be the most cost effective for the airline to have scheduled thus the cost should be higher.
