im against tazers ever since that polak died from being tazered at an airport somewere in canada i cant completely remember were? some kid in my school was making fun of polish ppl saying he would tazer them, and he got his ass whupped...even though he was joking

Tasers rock >.>, they just need more restraint in when to use em, some guy without any weapons in an airport who doesn't even know your language probably is not the right time to use it.

But they are better then real guns, instead of holding their real guns out on the guy, ready to shoot him and eventually doing so, they didn't have to because they had tasers, ok.. the guy still died(lol -.-) but he shouldn't of >.>, thats the whole point of the taser, "non lethal", maybe 50,000 volts is a bit much lol, but still, taser is a better solution then gun.

On another note, taser shotgun seems pretty awesome lol >.>.

Well the thing is police is only allowed to tazer i think once, but they went over the limit and tazered him 2/3 times. So if they obeyed the rules the guy wouldnt have died. Just because they are police doesnt mean they can break teh rules right? So maybe he deserved to be tazered, but who wouldnt be pissed to be in a holding room for 18 hours+

I think cops are allowed to tase you as many times as you resist them.

And no, there is a limit set because 50 000 volts like you said is alot, and if they tazer somebody to many times they can die...as you see in this example

I'm all for non lethal force.

Personally, i believe that the currently in development means of non lethal force, such as Pepper spray Paintballs should be introduced into normal equipment.

Tazers are actually extremely effective, however i will agree there seems to be just a lil too much voltage in them, i've seen someone get tazered.

Have you guys also seen that direct sound system? The LRAD (long range acoustic device}

Not only do i think that is super cool, and want one for personal use, but its an effective means of incapacitating people.,

There were two documentaries on the safety and history of tasers, and their use in Canada yesterday - it was coinciding with the MP review of the polski's death in Vancouver.

Anyways, from what I understood, the reason why some studies, and cops, haven't picked up on problems is because they are usually tased in the back. Another group of scientists split open the chest of pigs to see their hearts, and would tase them in the chest. When the two taser projectiles would spread and the shock would go through the heart area, for some pigs, an irregular heartbeat would impose itself - they would die. Even a couple of them would only die 3 minutes after the tase which is incredibly significant - seeing as taser is claiming the Vancouver man couldn't of died from the taser because he died a short period after being tased.

Either way, I support non-lethal force, and with the shotgun 1 prong tase, it might remove the problem of having the electricity pass through the heart causing irregularities in the heart's beating.

my friend bought 2, I tried out the one that was the weak one on my leg and it hurt as fu.ck..can imagine how the real one works

i've been hit with a police issue taser before and it sucks!!! i dropped like a sack of potatoes. that shit hurts...alot. then you have to pull the barb out of your skin, which isn't any fun either.
i don't know about canada, but in the u.s. i believe they can tase you until you are compliant. i have personally seen a meth head get hit 5 times before he dropped in front of a club i used to work at in south beach. it didn't even look like it phazed him. it was some funny shit!!!!

Well people who do meth and crack usually dont sense pain as much...so makes them even more stupid

tazers are ridiculous, who cares if they less lethal than guns? there still isa chance that you can die from being tasered. Buckshot and beanbags are sufficient, why do they have to use tasers? the police are really narrow-minded sometimes

If you are tazed, you probably deserve it from provoking or resisting the police.
