A Japanese father has called for his own son to hang after a gruesome murder spree in which the teenager killed three family members before slashing open his mother's belly and putting a doll inside.

The father says he will seek the death penalty for his 18-year-old son, who is a fan of the grisly Hannibal Lecter novels and has written horror stories himself.

"The only solace is he didn't kill people outside the family," he told Thursday's edition of the the Shukan Bunshun weekly magazine.

"I'm grateful some people advised me to get him an excellent lawyer, but I hope to see an early ruling," he said.

"I want him to get the death penalty - that's my honest feeling now."

The teenager, who cannot be identified because of his age, has admitted stabbing to death his mother, brother and sister with a large survival knife on January 9, a police official said.
He then reportedly cut open his mother's belly and put a doll inside before torching the family's apartment in the northern town of Hachinohe.

The father says his son told him he was writing a novel about seven criminals who get together to destroy a town. One scene reportedly depicts a man stuffing a doll into his mother's body.
His 55-year-old father says he felt disgusted when he saw his son grinning in pictures taken after his arrest, and wanted him to hang.

"I will make it clear in court. I don't know how he'd feel about it. But I want to tell him I'll pick up his bones for sure," he said.

In Japan, relatives traditionally take the bones of a cremated body in an urn for burial.

The father, who divorced the boy's mother a decade ago and has been in and out of prison on blackmail charges, admitted he was partly responsible for his son's poor upbringing.

He said while he was in prison, his son sent him the Hannibal Lecter novels by Thomas Harris about the psychiatrist turned cannibal serial killer portrayed by Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal.

Honestly I'm dumb founded right now. To think someone would take there obsession of horror stories so far. I'm at a lost for words.

Anywho discuss. Do you think the father is making the right call by asking for the death penalty or should someone so clearly mentally deranged be sought help for?

I must admit, I was thinking a bit differently when I saw the name of this thread...

I thought it was going to be a funny story, but this just sucks...

Well, my father would do the same, but i just hope I would be like that..

I could kill them while shoving a lollypop up their throat, but that would be an accident because I just wanted them to eat the damn thing...

Society - horror movies/media/games = a safer place to live

The genre of horror makes me wretch. I detest most anyone who indulges in it as much as I hate the genre itself. This story is a prime example of how this kind of crap mangles kids minds. This is sad.

i love horror movies pilot but im a nice guy :D i cant disagree with the farther i think hes honest because if it would have been anyone else killing his family he would probably want them to hang as well. It's a sad depiction of the horror genre however some kinds just let reality slip a little too far away. Sad part is he probably doesnt see it as something wrong either he probably thinks it was ok because he has seen it so many times before in books, stories, etc where the bad guy outsmarts the lead detective and continues his spree. It's an unfortuante situation for them all

Yeah, its just an extreme case. I dont find many stories like this making headlines. For normies like you and me, stories wont mutate you into a cereal killer.

Very sad.

I guess I favor the fathers thought on wanting the death penalty, but I wouldn't really know unless I was in the exact situation. =\ Sad all around.

Also, am a fan of horror and I'm not going around slicing people up. I don't blame the books, the games, the internet...blame the disorder the guy probably has. Books don't magically make you a murderer. <shrug>

Different sh1t affects people differently, so who knows if u read the right book it may make u more violent? Or turn u into more of a douchebag But it all depends on the content, the person and their mood.

I assume you mean "This story is a prime example of how this kind of crap mangles kids minds." as that the story of Hannibal mangles kids minds and resulting in someone doing this kind of thing?

I see this as an eye for an eye kind of thing. Great that the father is owning up and facing reality to raising his kid poorly and not blaming it on media and not taking responsibility. Then again two wrongs don't make a right, the kid clearly had uncared for mental issues, so would letting him rot in prison all his life really be the best idea. Again if I was in his father position I wouldn't know what to do. Maybe in blind rage death penalty would probably be what I wanted as well.

P.S The whole doll thing in his mother stomach is really psychotic. Says a lot about him as both a killer and a person.xD

I said this was an EXTREME CASE something like this to happen is VERY RARE. I have enough brains to see it-I also know that it doesnt turn the average human being into a savage killer. This kid was brought up in pretty sore conditions-he didnt have the greatest life. His mind was much more prone to becoming like that than normal people like you guys.

Well i think about this in a good way. What worse a kid killing 3 people or having 100's of kids going around killing there parents cause of these "horror" movies/ books. It's not the goverments fault its the parents fault for letting there kids read this kind of shizzle. No China will learn there lesson i hope @.@.

And if that was my kid lets just say his ass going to be hurting when he gets the beating of a life time. lol

I love how instead of focusing on the important things, like justice for example, people continue to bicker about what caused the guy to do it. Maybe he just felt like killing everyone around him one day, who cares. Fact is he did it, and his dad is pissed. I see nothing wrong with his decision to pursue the death penalty.

Three people just died in the saddest way possibly imagined. It would be devastating to the family. You can talk nonchalently about this-hell, it didnt happen to you, right? When you and others think like that, it just becomes an ingratitude to the affected family and makes you seem just cold.

If I spent my days feeling sorry for every person who died in "the saddest way imagined" not only would I have no time for anything else, but I would also probably be quite depressed myself. It may sound cold but it really isn't. Anyway it's got nothing to do with why the person did it, since it doesn't matter. What's done is done.
