I recently got new processor and ram, had to format for them to work on pc. Had Xp and last night i got bored so i got a hold of Vista Ultimate and since i didnt have anything overly important on their, i formated and did clean install. Vista is very eye pleasing IMO, and im pretty happy with it tbh despite all the bad stuff going around about it. One thing that concerns me is this...

My pc is pretty much idle atm, just took that image, only utorrent, g15 keyboard driver, Firefox and Kaspersky Anti-Virus are opened.... I have a feeling this will be a problem when i get the more heavy games on my pc (CoD4 and whatnot)

Yup thats what they warn for, Vista takes a shitload of RAM. :)

You need at LEAST 2GB RAM to play newer games on vista.

At least that's what I've heared.

There should be a 2gb ram requirement for having Vista, let alone gaming.

I have no fecking idea why they made it so system intensive.... i mean come on microsoft put a fecking 3.3gb ram limit on all 32bit OS's. Including vista, even if you have 4gb ram it will only see 3.3gb. Only 64bit recognize 4gb ram, and their isnt very good support with that. So what the hell does microsoft think they are doing that, saying that i think i will probably stay with vista unless it doesnt run something i want to play

Edit:
Heh look at ram usage when i started sro

Vista is a decent OS once you disable some of the unnecessary features...which is pretty much most of them.

I got Vista Home Premium so I guess things may be a bit different. I was able to run the Co4 demo with 15FPS on Vista with a crappy GeForce Go 7600. Not too bad.

In SRO.

right now my memory usage on vista is about the same as yours. But im also running internet explorer, firefox, xfire, windows live, steam, itunes, the software for my phone and the software for my keyboard ontop of whatever crap microsoft is running in the background.

I never have problems running games. Well, i couldnt run crysis on full spec and get more than 15fps but that wasnt because of my memory usage, my processor couldnt handle it all.

Why are you running both Firefox and IE? Also, iTunes is pretty bloaty.

I installed vista because I had to. I bought 2 500gb hd and wanted to raid0 them so I'd have 1TB, which I do and it rocks. Unfortunately, my mobo's raid drivers need to go in externally when installing an OS. Since xp is so old its system for adding drivers before install is both time consuming, both the setup time and time it took to find the drivers, and doesn't work >_>. It works flawlessly in the vista setup so vista ftw on that.
Problems that I've had with the OS:
Creative is god awful with their vista drivers (ok, not so much vista).
Hiccups with memory usage ingame every now and again.
The OS isn't bad but it's awful as an upgrade. MS failed big time.
