lol calling innovacious a fool @ networking
As he said, improving your network card does not improve internet speed - or better phrased: it won't make your internet go faster.

im not gonna bother doing it, i can just tell you my speed. I still have 2mb download and 256 upload and i can play any online game without lagging. All these higher speeds are mostly for downloading and uploading stuff. Dont be fooled by the dumb ISPs (and basically all companies who sell stuff to do with computers) who name stuff "gaming [insert product/service name here]" to make you think its good for gaming. Maybe in the near future, games will get more demanding on the internet connection front but right now they arnt very demanding at all.
If i ever do lag on games its not because of my speed, its either because of distance from servers or because the games servers themselves are lagging.

Don't forget that, with almost certainty, everyone who posted here has a throttled connection. And, even with amazing listed download speeds, no one will ever be able to download files big enough, at the unthrottled speeds, for it to make a bigger difference than a couple seconds.
The difference between a 2mb and 10mb connection, when receiving text on msn, is not noticable; and, both get throttled to similar speeds when downloading a movie on bittorrent.
I have a 10mb down, 2mb up connection - the highest download speeds I can ever touch are bordering the 1mb mark, and that's only using download clients from obscure korean mmos. The rest of the time i'm downloading at the same speeds of people that pay a third of the price for their connection.
