World of Warcraft saved the life of a 12 year old.

Post by Waisha »

From a swedish newspaper- http://www.dn.se/DNet/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=2409&a=722615

I translated it myself so there may be some spelling misstakes. Please point them out.

A twelve year old from Norway was attacked by a angry moose. He got away by using a trick he learned in WoW.

Twelve year old Hans Jørgen Olsen was out and walking in the woods in the north of Norway with his sister when they suddenly was attacked by an aggressive moose.

- My sister ran away, but I tried to scare the moose. When I noticed that the moose didn't stop I also started to run. The moose followed me and I couldn't keep it up, says the boy.

The moose gored(?) him in the back but the hit was absorbed by the boy's backpack. When he fell to the ground he used a trick he learned in WoW.

- When you reach level 30 you learn the skill "feign death", so that is what I did; I lied down and pretended to be dead. After a little while the moose went away, says the twelve year old.

Edit: Oh and no, there are no spelling mistakes ^-^

okay, the boy might have referred his action to WoW, but in fact this is a move started by your instinct.
It's a very common move for scared living beings. When scared, there are usually 2 'actions': 1 run away, 2 too scared to do anything and remain where you are (nailed on the ground), which could result in acting dead.

not really it isnt instinct to play dead only certain animals have that quality and they learn in from there peers,
this kid learned it from wow
like i learned it from discovery channel
if it was never introduce 2 me as a concept it wouldn't be my instinct
If the concept of us being all one consciousness's and us being one thing that lives endless through the cycle of nature the only clear emotion would be understanding .
we be in a utopia

have you been in a dangerous situation like that? Its hard to tell unless you've been in one. The human body has many advanced capabilities of dealing with danger

WoW didn't save any lives, it's just being given credit for way too much.
