Anyone could recommend me some good compression/archiving software that works effectively.


I tried WinRAR pro (Paid not illegal version), 7zip. But they just won't shrink the size of the files.. Even if it is set to "ULTRA/EXTREME Compression"

Or is it just my pc?

rar file compression works good for me, with max compression, but the way it compresses means something get compressed more then others, music files dont' seam to compress all that well, but documents and archives do
I wish i understood it better, but its just what i've noticed, and it makes sense that somethings couldnt' be compressed much more, because they'd have to drop data to do so, that can't be as easily guessed by a higher compression algorithm, then again like i said i don't know much about it, but thats what i'm guessing from what i've observed, but rar works fine for me, then again i dont' compress stuff down much, its annoying to have to uncompress to use

Usually when I try to compress .exe files like installers the size doesn't go down at all so if that's what you're trying to do then you wouldn't have to worry about it.

Silly me, 7zip works great.
