didn't see it but i heard they dumbed down the religious implications of the book so they wouldn't offend the Judo-Christian-Islamic ppl. Strange how the can show chronicles of Narnia which is filled with religious under tones complete with a "jesus allegory lion" but not show Northern Lights in all its entirety...

movie was worth paying for imo.
original story line, good acting, some fun special effects..
basically everything you'd go to the movies for.

haven't seen it. I'm hoping to get the triology for my bday, which is coming up. I hear the first book isn't as blantantly anti-religious as the 2nd and 3rd books. I'll probably go see it soon.

the first book is alot more fantasy...i thought it was very umm...British style of fantasy writing though like tolkien, they slam you with a bunch of words history and concepts only briefly that have a huge impact on the stories universe but have little to do with whats actually going on but without you'd be lost...if that makes any sense
@_@ not a fan of British writing, rowling did a good job but her style wasn't very British...

it was funny, looked good, very cool and all, but I hate it that they just cut off the half story...
Well, at least we'll know there is going to be a second part...xD
but.. does it have books??
I'd like to read them...

well, I haven't read the books, cuz I didn't know they excisted... but I think tat, even though t felt like it was just halfly made, it was a good movie, and maybe it is just me as I didn't read the books.
But at least, you'll know that the other movie(s) will be good, as you know what still has to come because they expalined it allready.
She stil has to save her father,
Pan still needs to find his steady form,
They still need to find the other kids' Daemons,
and....
That IceBear still needs to become the rightfull king of the IceBears.

I read the books in past times.
If I ever go to see the movie, I'm going to read the books again first.

the books are always more entertaining than the moveis ppl. So usually the movies don't even compare.

Agreed. They did a rather good job in the movie of portraying the book I thought, but you appreciate it more after reading the book. Go read it whoever hasn't!

I'd rather say:
Don't read book 1 and then see the movie, cuz then you're going to compare it all, and that'll spoil your film thinking and comparing..

OMG no.
If the book spoils the movie due to comparing, you'll come to the conclusion that the movie sucks.
I still need to see my first movie that is better than the book.
HP > quite comparable, but it's not the same thing.
LOTR > can you say rape? Sure the movie looks/is nice, but it can't grasp the epicness of the books.
