I'm wanting to listen to some death metal but I don't know a lot of good death metal bands any suggestions? like Otep, Morbid Angel, Iron maiden etc

Dimmu Borgir. I would hope iGod comes in here. He knows more about it than me.

I only really do European/foreign metal bands.

Dimmu Borgir is black/death metal so they'd be a good choice if you haven't heard em. And for a good old fashioned death metal band you can't go wrong with Cannibal Corpse.

I'm not sure you're listening to the same Iron Maiden I listen to since there's very little of the band (if anything) that could be put in that genre.

As for death metal, you can't go wrong with Death since they are truly an amazing band. If you wanna hear some of their songs:

I am not a fan of metal but in school we listened to Rime of the ancient mariner for english class...lol sumthin about the book frankenstein but even if I am not a fan of metal or any kinda rock screaming music this song was quite good

That band ranks high on my list of favorite bands because I love their sound. I was lucky enough to see them live over a month ago @ the Key Club and it was an awesome show.

Cannibal Corpse, i strongly urge against their music, though it is fun to make fun of it, it serves no other purpose

Anywho

some good melodic death metal mands (not including ones already mentioned) since my collection of non-melodic death metal is not very big.

machine head (not really death metal but close enough, they still own you all)

Metal bands that comes from sweden, finland or norway are usually good. Just look at norways wiki page. Under "Culture, education and sports" black metal is the second thing in the list!

Im guessing you're looking for something like Vader, Obituary, Angelcorpse (did alot of covers), Arghoslent, maybe Chimaira .(will keep adding.. scrolling through playlist :d). Vehemence Discordia

But the bands I listen to 'regularly' are Behemoth and Vader out of these

first of all pantera is not death metal, either is dragonforce. pantera is thrash and dragonforce is speed metal.

iron maiden is defenitley not death metal.

Ok, darkest hour is NOT metal. They're a crap wanna-be metal band that came out of the hardcore scene. But, amon amarth is this SHIT!

I agree. Go with Vader. But, don't forget the classics! Morbid Angel!

There not officaly Death Metal but Bring Me The Horizon does kinda border on it and some songs have melody in em which is good as well.

I don't listen to music because of it's category, i pick the songs themeselves

If you really like brutal riffs check out Dying Fetus, Vomit Remnants, Gorerotted, All Shall perish, Impaled etc. Some grind in there~
