Shouldnt this really be in GD or somewhere else? Because it isnt really offtopic.

Plus i think there would be more people willing to take part in the GD since alot of people here dont even play SRO and probably dont wanna waste time writing stories about it.

glad my stories gave you an idea =)
Could you clarify the topic of the first competition? I think its an introductino to a story, but could you re-iterate the parameters for me? I'm a little confused.

Any prizes? :P

The story will be several chapters, but there will be a new competition for each
chapter, so several members get the chance of having a piece of their fantasy
added to this story.

This first competition will be the intro to the story, so it can basically be anything.
The next competition will be chapter 2
the competition after that will be chapter 3

etc.

hmm i may have to enter into this one, if i had more time, too bad its by the 4th, but just one chapter i could do i guess, still those are short chapters

edit:
after reviewing it i think i mistook the meaning of this contest, I thought at first individual stories per writer, but i see now its a compilation of different chapters continued from previous winners,

so the first winner obviously gets to pick the initial setting, but as cool as this is i don't see much enthusiasm from others

I am thinking of writing one myself, for the sake of giving some choice for the plot and supporting this idea. I really don't like writing fiction as I tend to over-think everything and it ends up taking me an hour to write a paragraph, but I will give this a shot in hopes of seeing some nice stories added later on.

I will try to keep it as open ended as possible to allow the next few writers the choice of selecting a mastery/build for the characters, like Juey did. Expect a story later on, I don't have time to do it now.

good job <3

there's some words spelled wrong, but overall its a good read.
if you find the time and patience, could you just look over it and correct a bit
of spelling/grammer? i know its not priority, and if you want i can look over it
for you. just see.

and good point on where to post it. in this topic is fine; after the deadline i
will clean up this topic, pick out the chapters that have been written, post
those along with a poll.

shit bro... that was an awesome start.

i like your way of writing.. i can really visualize it.
i also like the fact that all is still open. no name has been chosen yet. its the
storyteller's view on the intro.

keep em coming babes! the quality is high!

nice read, nb. reminds me of myself starting sro with the 10k spammers around me -.- :P

its funny to see that out of the 4 intro's posted so far, 2 start with a more experienced
main figure, and 2 start with an unexperienced "kid".

interesting :)

I figure the best way to give ppl a reason to continue was to give them a character with a lot of potential to add their own spin to it. Torinchibi's was kinda serious, so I went the opposite direction.

Good luck cin, its a great idea.

ya i thought since it was an add on story, i needed to have a young charector starting out, with some basic back story, but not so much that it can't be added onto later, though i'm semi surprised how every one else decided to make it more like the game rather then just semi based off of, the 10k one was kinda funny though. I wanted it to be more role playing the charectors rather then making hints at the game itself. I hope we get some more entries in here

haha i never said your part was "wrong" or anything, so no need to defend yourself
whatso-ever ;)

i just said its interesting (means i'm glad to see) that there is different type of
story beginnings that have been posted :)

and i must say, im already very happy with 4 pieces in 2 days!
i wasn't sure how many people would actually take the time to write a piece :)

torinchibi's story reminds me of naruto when Jiraiya gave Naruto a leaf to determine what chakra he should use >.> (seems a bit... unoriginal)

So that's what I was thinking about! I knew that thought came from somewhere, I just didn't know where I got it from. But yeah, the end of my intro was a little crappy, 2 paragraphs of ifs stones and leaves seemed redundant, but meh.

Rofl, at Minoob, and then again at Tessa 'correcting herself'. Not like she has something to correct... *pops breasts back into corsage*....
That was a good one.

@Syl, great start. wasnt expecting otherwise from you ;)
and i like the fact that you gave it a different kind of view and storytelling too.

i'm really enjoying to read what you all have written so far! if i find the time,
i will try and make something up as well.

@aznmaster and torinchibi, it might have come from a different story, but
fact remains its a good quality chapter and a nice read.. and i didnt know
where the original stone+leaf thing came from, so imo its just a good fit with
the rest of the story torin wrote.

nice nice nice nice nice!

Ohhh! That one was good. Especially the sox ending. It sound like a good start for a Chronicle story.

Edit: I am still waiting for Hershey's story, he seemed interested, so I assume there will be one coming from him.

Continuing with my story.

Chapter 2

The reunion

It was on his second day in the forest that he heard steps behind him. He hid in the bushes, and waited. The steps came closer. And then he saw the fold of a white robe among the trees, and a gleam of blue flowing hair.

He leapt forward, he ran to her, and he stood looking upon her.

She saw him, and her hands closed into fists, and the fists pulled her arms down, as if she wished her arms to hold her, while her body swayed. And she could not speak.

He dared not come too close to her. He asked, and his voice trembled:

"How did you come to be here?"

But she whispered only:

"I have found you. . . ."

"How did you come to be in the forest?" he asked.

She raised her head, and there was a great pride in her voice; she answered:

"I have followed you."

Then he could not speak, and she said:

"I heard that you had gone to the Uncharted Forest, for everyone is
speaking of it. So on the night of the day when I heard it, I ran away from Constantinopel. I found the marks of your feet across the plain where no men walk. So I followed them, and I crossed over to the forest, and I followed the path where the branches were broken by your body."

Her white robe was torn, and the branches had cut the skin of her arms, but she spoke as if she had never taken notice of it, nor of weariness, nor of fear.

"I have followed you," she said, "and I shall follow you wherever you go. If danger threatens you, I shall face it also. If it be death, I shall die with you. You are damned, and I wish to share your damnation."

She looked upon him, and her voice was low, but there was bitterness and triumph in her voice.

"Your eyes are as a flame, but our people have neither hope nor fire. Your mouth is cut of granite, but their are soft and humble. Your head is high, but their cringe. You walk, but they crawl. I wish to be damned with you, rather than blessed with all the people back in the City. Do as you please with me, but do not send me away from you."

Then she knelt, and bowed her blue head before him.

He had never thought of that which he did. He bent to raise her to her feet, but when he touched her, it was as if madness had stricken him. He seized her body and he pressed his lips to her. She breathed once, and her breath was a moan, and then her arms closed around him.

They stood together for a long time.

Then he said:

"My dearest one. Fear nothing of the forest. There is no danger. Let us forget all things except that we are together and that there is joy as a bond between us. Give me your hand. Look ahead. It is our own world, a strange, unknown world, but our own."

Then he walked on into the forest, her hand in his.

They have walked for many days. The forest has no end, and they seek no end. But each day added to the chain of days between them and the City is like an added blessing. He has made a crossbow and many bolts. He can kill more birds than they need for their food; They find water and fruit in the forest. At night, they choose a clearing, and she created a ring of magic around it, a skill which she learned from some Chinese merchants years ago. They sleep in the midst of that ring, and the beasts dare not attack them. He can see their eyes, green and yellow as coals, watching them from the tree branches beyond. They sleep together in the midst of the ring, the her arms around him, her head upon his breast.

Some day, he shall stop and build a house, when they have gone far enough. But they do not have to hasten. The days before them are without end, like the forest and mountains ahead.

Wait, chapter 2 has nothing to do with chapter 1... so that's another chapter 1?

Looks like a new story, but the whole Homeric style of starting in the middle, without any intro to either character makes it a confusing intro.

....so is that like your entry if you win the Chapter 1 vote, or did you misunderstand how this works? According to cin, we all do intros, he puts them all in a new post with a poll, then we can vote for the best one/the one we like, and after that we all write Chapter 2 stories based on the chosen intro, and so on.

cin

Post by cin »

torinchibi is right ;)
just the intros in this competition. We will do a chapter 2 according to what
will be chosen as chapter 1.
