I spill some water on my dell Inspiron 2200, I air dried it with cool air by a air drier. Then I start the computer, it goes to a DOS screen and say:
Memory write/read failure 4F7E0004 Read 7E817E91 expecting 7E917E91
Memmory address line failure at 4F7E0000 read 7E917E91 expecting 81818181
I took out my 1G RAM, and now it works fine with the 256RAM only.
So the Question is:
Is my RAM fried? or is my RAM slot fried?

Try putting some chicken in there, see if it gets cooked.

if it works with a diff memory block, i'd say your 1gb is dead, not the slot

Best money I ever spent on my laptop was on Dell's 3 year "Shit happens" warranty.
So far, they've replaced my hard drive, cooling fan, LCD and motherboard all for free.
As long as you've got a warranty, Dell customer support isn't terrible, it just can take awhile to get things done sometimes.

Buy new RAM.
