The Doak Walker Award!!!!!!!!!

Okay, so for those of you who don't know, The Doak Walker Award goes to the nation's leading running back. I'm asking all my SRF buddies to do me a favor and go and vote for my buddy, Kevin Smith from UCF. He is, IMHO, the best running back in the nation. He has the 2nd most total yards, has set virtually every UCF rushing record, has the most rushing TDs this season, just ran for 320 yards this past weekend, and has 10 games over 100+ yards this season, and he's only a junior! So, go to the link below. It's a poll, and whoever wins the poll gets a vote on their behalf for the Doak Walker Award, and every vote counts. And since it is weighted, try to put these guys at the bottom of your top-ten list:

McFadden, Hard, Stewart and Rice

For those of you who don't care, then just do it as a favor to me, and I'll bake you a virtual cake! :)

Cheers!

Smith is a great back, but I don't believe in statistics. I think Jamaal Charles (Texas), or Dantrell Savage (Oklahoma State) are better backs. Both of them are considered game changing backs because of the intensity they bring to the offense and how they are able to spark a dead offense with runs that have absolutely no offensive line blocking.

But just for you, I'll vote for your guy at UCF

The only thing that bugs me about him, is the competition he plays against. I mean, didn't he get shut down for the most part, against Rutgers?

Nope, the only game he didn't get 100 yards in was against USF. And, I was at that game. Main reason, they abandoned the run WAY too early. They only gave him the ball 18 times, and the one drive they stuck with the run on was the drive they looked the best on and scored. go figure.

Oh, and he ran all over Texas and NC State, as well as every other team this season.

Yeah, that was a good game, and we came SO close :)

All things are pointing that he will stay for his senior year, which of course, we all want him to do. O'Leary says that unless you're a guaranteed first round pick, he always advises aginst leaving early. Smith, who is freakin great, has a couple of things against him that will probably prevent him from being in the first round of the draft this year. 1) he plays for UCF, which still doesn't get respect
2) because he plays for UCF, he gets little national attention
3) He's got a lot of great backs to compete with this year

If he stays one more year and has a similar year, he'll def. be a Heisman candidate, not to mention Doak Walker, and first rounder, no prob. Regardless, he'll be playing immediately on Sundays in the NFL, whether it's next season, or the one after (let's jus thope he stays healthy!!)
