Hey Guys,
I just got elected as President of the my School's Student Council. It's cool i guess, i don't mind doing it. I mean, i did accept the nominations.
So, it kinda just kicked up an idea for a discussion thread in my mind, how about you guys. What are your thoughts on Student Government, and were/are any of your in Student Government?

Puhleeez boi, no way am i nerdy.
O, n i have been elected.
Well 1211, it's different in every school i guess;
Here however,
The Student Council is like a Board of Students who pretty much are the voice for all students, we take suggestions from students, in improvements or events, or changes they want. You know anything.
We then bring it us with the SMT (Senior Management Team) thats a mix of Teachers and Administration staff. Well, we work on whats workable, we scrap whats silly, and we just try to improve things.
This year it's a litte different thougt:
We have 3 main sections:
The Executive Cabinet
This is made up of myself (President) two fellow IB[Juniors] students (Vice President and Head of Media) and we have an Assistant to the Vice President
The Executive Council
This is where 1 representative from each Year Group comes to meet with the Executive Cabinet, we talk about the Ongoings of the Council, and so on.
Committees
Each Year Group has a committee to attend, this is anywhere from teacher groups to cafeteria to enviromental. We all meet later to discuss the happenings.
Trust me, it sounds more complicated on paper than it is in practice

In my college we have a similar thing to this but there is no leader. A few classes from each department(science/computing/arts etc.) are selected and from each of those classes 1 student needs to be nominated to go to monthly meetings with the principal and some other people. For the past 3+ years though all the students have wanted is more parking but nothing has happened.
Last year the parking actually got worse cus they stuck a load of building equipment on one of the car parks! That building eqiupment was for a new building, so now we are going to be getting more students so we are going to be wanting even bigger car parks n whatnot ¬_¬
The only other thing that us computing students wanted was some competent technical support people so the whole college computer system didnt fall on its face multiple times a day. But the principal is a technophobe so she dosnt seem to understand the problem, even though the lecturers complain about them aswell...
ok, im gonna stop typing now, i almost went into a full on rant about my principal and the technical support dudes. *takes deep breath*
So in other words, our system aint bad, the students thoughts are getting to the head honchos but they dont seem to give a flying crap...

Innovacious,
What school do you go to??? I'm just curious, as your problems might be pretty typical of many universities and colleges lol

Gratz KeyJ ^^ Mr president
.
I was president of my student council back in the days :/ Though it didnt last long, I did o-lvls earlier than I should, and skipped half a year of studies to go straight to year 12. Was fun while it lasted, and it will look very good on your resume

I was sercetary of my high school then I ran for president and got the position. I was the President of the Beta Club, I was the treasurer of the Honor Society. I was vice president in middle school, and I was captain of the volleyball team ( don't know if that counts though)

Well the prez was always a hot guy who's like a celeb in the school. Don't worry about anything too much just act cool.
Cuz the vice prez (usually a really hard working girl) will take care of everything for you
Tis true!
Also, you'll be pretty busy but don't let your studies down ^^
