1982: Maybe one of the Greatest Years in Musical History

The Cure - Pornography
Cocteau Twins - Garlands
Depeche Mode - A Broken Frame
The Jam - The Gift
Flock of Seagulls - FoS
Yaz - Upstairs at Eric's
Duran Duran - Rio
Eyeless in Gaza - Drumming the Beating Heart and Pale Hands I loved So Well

And that's just scratching the surface. Bands that were getting started or going strong: Human League, Damned, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, The Fall, Adam and the Ants...

I could spend all day listing the great albums and singles from 1982.

And of course, maybe the greatest album of all time: Haircut One Hundred - Pelican West.

EDIT: Crumpets, I'll be right over...

Phantasmagoria was the first gig I ever saw, starting a long, slow decline into music-driven depravity.

It's just bandwagon to like 80's music.

People who say 80's>now, haha, I'd like to see you go back to those times "wtf? No sro????"

Though guns 'n roses is still totally badass...

If I had to only choose one of their songs to share though... it'd be........ I dunno, I can choose.

Appetite for destruction was their only good album though, I didn't like the others.

Totally agreed. Nothing wrong with classic MJ.

Here's what I can think of off the top of my head.
The Clash - Rock The Casbah
Men At Work - Land Down Under
Rockwell - Somebody's Watching Me
And Queensryche - Jet City Woman, even though it doesn't quite make the cutoff.

Off Topic:

You gotta be kidding. Gaming in the early 80's was exciting. It was revolutionary. Seriously.

1980 - Zork I: The Great Underground Empire
1980 - Ultima I: The First Age of Darkness
1981 - Wizardry I: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord

You think SRO is addictive? I can still recreate the entire first level of Wizardry in my head. You kids today with your Silkroad and your World of Warcraft. GTFO MY LAWN!!!

On Topic:

It sounds silly now, but the hype surrounding the launch of MTV was unimaginable. It was all anyone talked about for a month. People were sitting in front of their TV at midnight on August 1, 1981 like it was the superbowl. The first video was, of course, the Buggles "Video Killed the Radio Star." Trevor Horn, of the Buggles, would soon after join with Anne Dudley and JJ Jeczalik to form the Art of Noise. If it weren't for Kraftwerk and the Art of Noise, there would be no electronic music today.

Sadly my favorite band from the 80s released my favorite album in 1990. That would be Megadeths Rust In Peace. There's also EVERY Motley Crue CD from the 80s, those albums were amazing too.

Motley Crue - Girls Girls Girls
http://youtube.com/watch?v=72OSeA1tBg8

Megadeth - Holy Wars
http://youtube.com/watch?v=1yCWXfI3V0k

On a side note I'd like to note how tight their pants are. Don't see why metal heads flip scene kids so much shit... haha
