Well im sure everyone here has their own view on gay marriage and im doing a paper on if gay marriage should be legal and I am wondering if anyone here could help :)

Anyways well in the bible it says "thou shalt not steal" and my church friends came up with the meaning of a universal concept of "stealing" such as stealing someones life, freedom etc... well the bible also says something like thou shalt not lay in bed with the same sex and isn't that also stealing the gay persons freedom? well anyways post your thoughts and what I should write thx

Stealing could be anything. When I think of the word steal, loss of freedom, loss of possessions, loss of happiness come to mind. So in a sense, if you go by bible standards, saying 'You cannot lay in the bed of the same sex' is contradicting it's previous statement.

In my opinion, same-sex marriage is something we need to accept and allow, because we have no right to tell someone they cannot love or cherish a particular person. Also, no organized religion is allowed to have any influence over any law, so it's unconstitutional to ban same-sex marriage. You will rarely find someone saying same-sex marriage is 'wrong/filthy/unnatural' without supporting their opinion with their religious views. So, yes it should be allowed, despite what the bible may say. We don't have the right to take someone's freedom to make their own choices, to gain happiness, or their right to posses a life with whom they choose.

That's my opinion. Probably makes no sense to anyone but me. Oh well.

From the First Amendment of the US Constitution:
...Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion...

religion should have no say in law, so gay marriage should be allowed.

Do some research on it first if you don't know a lot about the subject.

That was from the book "The Kite Runner"

Im not a reader, but that was a great book...

A quote from the book

"There is only one sin, only one. And that is theft. Every other sin is a variation of theft....When you kill a man, you steal a life. You steal his wife's right to a husband, rob his children of a father. When you tell a lie, you steal somene's right to the truth. When you cheat, you steal the right to fairness."

Well,

I don't have an exact one way or other way view.

Personally, i view Gays the same as others, we have some family friends who are gay, we've even had teachers who are gay. Yet we don't feel any different around them. (Except of course when you catch your Fat gay History teacher wearing short shorts, walking around the mall with his partner) *Shudders*

IF they want to get married, i say let them. I'm a Roman Catholic myself, so im supposed to be against Gay Marriages and so on, but i really don't think that (as said above) Religion should have much to say in law making.

Is it that horrible that they are pronounced as Husband and Husband? They are still going to remain together, why not allow them to get married officially, i mean they could do one un-officially if they so chose, but still.

You know what, just go watch "I now pronounce you Chuck & Larry"

:D

why do what the bible says..

what's wrong with love for the same sex
there's nothing wrong with being gay

i think religion is just to keep people afraid so they dont do something against the law. that's why im not a christian, muslim or whatever

I believe ppl should have the right to be married to anyone they want to be married to. It's their decision and we have no right to tell them no they can't marry another member of the same sex. Most religions if you haven't already realized are very hypocritical, and almost all of them where established when the world was in a state of ignorance. So I say go on and marry who ever you want.

constitution says congress shall not prefer one religion over another and it should have no say in law (or something very similar to this) so gay marrage should be allowed

Say that there should be separation of church and state. If the only reason gay marriage is illegal is because the bible says it's bad, then that's just stupid.
Also, people should let people do what they want. Why not let someone get married to another man/woman? Just don't do it yourself if you think it's so bad.

gay marriage should be legalized because democracy has no religious affiliation. therefore regardless of what the bible, torah, quran etc says, in a democracy all people deserve equal rights. right to marriage is one such right.

I lol when people say that gay marriage has to be illegal because the bible says so; yet they eat pork, eat meat on fridays, cut the hair infront of their ears, hardly attend church, disrespect their neighbors and parents, fail to give back to the community, and use God's name in vain.

However, with that said, religion was first and foremost a religious union between a man and a woman. I feel it should remain that way and gays should not be allowed to get married; there needs to be new terminology for the word marriage in a civil and logistical sense. Two gays should have the right to go to their city hall and live in union and be accorded a title. They should have all the same rights religiously married people have: wills, taxes, insurance, etc.

For an analogy: Having two gays get religiously married is like having a white guy receive cash from the United Negro College Fund.

the times of marriage being "religious" is long gone. even atheists get married in church wit all that shit. civil marriage should be open to all, even polygamy. i never got why that was against the law.

Constantine twisted christian dogma to fit the pagan society of "rome". he wanted distinction between jews and christians, which is why our dogma doesnt prevent us from eating meals that jews or those of jewish decent would avoid :) . besides I LIKE PORK!!! XD [i need a good copy of the torah >.> *goes to amazon*]
