Hi, im going to be getting my first car really soon, and it will probably be either a 96-2000 Civic or an 94-98 Integra. I put aside about 7-8K CND$ for the car, and 1-1.5k$ CND for the sound system. Id like to know, Whats the best bang for the buck for my budget? I want the bass to pound, but also the sound needs to be clear. I can probably get my Dad to install it ( Owns a mechanic shop), so I can save some money on installation. Any suggestions? Im totally lost, I dont know the whole deal with ohms/watts/ etc! HELP!

I've just bought a new car.. got a new sound system aswell. Got a pioneer sub, 12", 2000W (ya dont want any bigger than that :P), a Vibe Monobox (think thats 1200W), and a LG CD/MP3 player. Got it all, including wiring, a power cap, and a sub box, for less than £200.

Though, i got a bargain, its worth around double that. Dont know what £200 converts to into your currency, but that is as good as a sound system youd want.. i would of settled with much less but i knew someone who was selling it all at a real bargain.

Noo dont spend that much, you'd just be wasting your money. I never even get near my max bass with my sub.. it would just make your head hurt. I cant think of any useful websites, just try googling for incar audio forums or something like that, and people will give very good advice.

Alright, thanks for your help =) Any money I can save is great, I just thought that you need to spend over 1000$ at least to get half decent sound.

If your spending over 1000 in that small of car, its going to rock really hard. A small car like that does fine with 10's, 12's and the windows start to bend. You could spend 700 or so and still get an amazing system for you car.

Buy the Integra!! Honda's are pooh :P

And yea, dunno much about car audio but thats a lot of money to be spending on a system o.O Shop around, and tbh, you'll never know how it sounds until you actually buy it and have it installed in your car. Then you're gonna want to get that dyno padding stuff (i forget what its called) cus I cannot stand when someone pulls up next to me and its not bass on the outside but sounds like a bunch of loose metal rattling lol. Better make sure every nut and bolt on your car is tight hehe.
